A 5 gallon tank is a bit small for this gravel vacuum because the motor has to remain submerged in the water at all times. A photo showed a slightly partial exposed pump and that's what I had when I used it in a 5 gallon tank. it cleans very well. my tank water clogged the suction several times. I turn off the dial and unplugged and allowed the water to flow out in one direction towards the outake. I cleaned the necessary areas and turned it on to notice improved suction. The 5 gallon has algae tablets added for the catfish. The tank water was dark when the filtration was started. Algae in and underneath the substrate. I took longer to clean due to mishandling the hose in recirculation mode. I removed plant life and fish because it is a small tank. I suggest that the gravel vacuum is too big for the Imaginarium 5 gallon tank, but I'm keeping it because I was able to use it and get clean substrate and filter the algae and keep the pump inserted properly.

This fish tank cleaner has been a game changer for my 45-gallon tank. It is easy to use, there is some assembly required but it's not too difficult to figure out. Once I started using it, I was very impressed with the suction flow and the ease of adjustment. What used to take me up to an hour, I was able to get it done in under 20 mins. This has been a time saver and no longer am I dreading it as a weekly chore. I highly recommend this to anyone with a large or small aquarium.

My dad is getting old and can no longer handle the maintenance of cleaning his tank with the manual hand pump and carrying buckets to the kitchen sink. This is a life saver for him to keep up his tank without the physical strain. I'm so glad I found this for him.

We just got a 36-gallon tank, a significant upgrade from our 10-gallon tank. We had been using a hand-pump extractor to clean our gravel and it was already a PITA every time we had to do it. So grabbing something like this became a no-brainer with our large, much deeper 36-gal bow tank. It took us more than 30 trips across the living room with a large pitcher to fill it, and none of us want to have to repeat that.As you can see in the pics, this comes in SO many pieces. The wand length is adjustable and the power cable to the motor has clips on the wand, so there is plenty of room. For recirculating water back into the tank instead of dumping it out, there are two sponge filters in place (one on the Sand wand, one in the filter canister) which are removable and washable.I’m keeping the box for storage. 😊

I have always had difficulties finding a tank cleaner for my fish tank, so I decided to try this out. This product is amazing!!! It was very simple to use and I am glad that I was able to find something that makes it much easier for tank maintenance. I highly recommend this product.
