I bought this bulb as a replacement for a 400 watt bulb that was at least three years old. Two things I noticed:1.) When fully illuminated this HPS light has a less of that bright yellow that the previous 400 watt HPS bulb had. I am hoping that this is because this 400 watt HPS bulb does in fact give off more of the blue spectrum.2.) The bulb is measurably brighter than the bulb it replaced. I have a light meter. Prior replacing the bulb, I took light measurements in foot candles. After replacing the bulbs, the foot candle readings were between 30 and 50 % higher in different parts of the growing area. Since the old bulb had been through at least two 6 month growing seasons, I am not sure how much that contributed to vast change in light output.I am pretty hopeful that this light will help my orchids thrive during the indoor winter growing season.

I have been buying standard Sylvania HPS bulbs made in China and Mexico the past 10 years and have had all kinds of quality issues from low lux to short bulb life. Since I switched to Hortilux around a year ago my yields have almost doubled and have less problems overall. I am able to put the bulb closer to the canopy. China products are so poorly made. I am a fool no more.

Trying to seed some Mitragyna This bulb came in a bubble wrap envelope in a card board box. I bought a 400w HPS from Protopia was $11 and came broken in box that was foam padded and in a box and with bouble padding.. This thing didn't even need that and it's SUPER thick compared to the other chinese bulb I couldn't even use. This is the second time I've had issues with Protopia the CMH315 only lasted 30 days on the dot.. I got a CMH315 from hortilux and the quality is noticeable right out of the box. The other bulbs had cheap metal and very thin glass and thin wiring and made weird noises. these Hortilux are amazing and show the quality of American made products. NO wonder why the cost is so high. It's worth it. They will def last me a few years.

excellent little light, responds well to super-lumen setting. Would give it five stars but I'm getting tired heat mitigation for these HID light systems. Been thinking of trying LEDs

FYI: If you buy this light bulb USE it right away. I bought mine for a replacement just in case. When I went to use the bulb it only lasted for 12 hours. I than went to see on a return and missed the return window by 2 months. So, I learned that it's better to just use the one you bought to make sure it's a good bulb. Regardless if the one you have still works.

I've Had This Bulb In Use For A Couple Of Months Now And My Plants Are Loving It (Big Beautiful Flowers)... Don't Settle For Less This Is The Bulb You Want... The Price I Paid Was $40 Less Then Suggested Retail. $60 Instead Of $100+.. That Made It An Easy Decision For Me. "Hortilux Super HPS" Sets The Standard For Indoor Grow Lights. These Bulbs Are A Must Have For Any Serious Grower. Don't Cheap Out And Settle For Less! I'll Be Picking Up Another One Once This Ones Lifetime Is Up.
