K was looking for a bit more capacity for her garden starts this year, so bought this one to supplement the one she already has. This new one is larger, and I'll say up front that the lighting is much better than the two-tubes T12 hood on the existing one. Evidence is the starts in the old one 'reaching' for the extra light from the LEDs in this new one next to it.The construction is great, with never-corrode plastic covers and tray vs. the enameled steel of the one we have. No worries about ever replacing florescent grow-light tubes either, another plus.Meanwhile, engineer-with-gardener-wife says I could buy at least two years worth of starts locally before covering the purchase cost of this product. As you can imagine, that justification carried absolutely no weight in her decision to buy. The Good News is that she indulges my own tool-a-holic habits without any complaints.

Seedlings doing better since i put them under this. Takes up a lot of space so measure first. Installation is difficult. I think the manufacturer could install the tricky bits especially for the price. Glad i have it though.

This has turned into my seed starter for the most part. Why? Once I plant the seeds.... There is NOTHING to do. I love it. I come back a week or so later and transplant to my hydro grow. The close is lettuce that I just started 2 - 3 days ago. It 4 more days they will be long enough for me to transfer to a hydro grow.If I'm not starting seeds than I use it to grow plants through all their stages as well. It works well with liquid fertilizer as well and has no issues wicking it up.I really like that you can punch holes in any container you want and it will work. This means you are not limited to the size of their containers or their setup, you can make your own changes. The only issue, and its a HUGE PAIN IN THE backside, are the darn knobs on the side that control the light height. You can see in the pic that everything is cheap plastic, you are afraid something is going to snap every time you move it. You need to hold both sides at the same time, loosen the knobs but hold on too so the light doesn't fall and smash your plants. Then if you get lucky you move both sides at the same time and it actually slides.... otherwise ... meaning 8/10 times you are fighting because 1 side got ahead of the other and now you are swearing as you try to get it going again without dropping it.... Soon I'm just going to take it apart and hang the lights using my own cables. This is the only flaw.... Maybe even if they used round poles instead of square it would move better, but than maybe it isn't as strong...

I would have given this 5 stars, but one of the thumb screws to hold up the lights was broken. Bought a set of two new ones from Amazon. I also realized a heating pad was needed for the soil to reach enough warmth for seeds to germinate.

I purchased two large sunblaster growlight gardens….but was very disappointed to discover that the screw housing on both units were faulty and broken. I was unable to use the units as I couldn’t keep the canopy supported over my seedlings…I need replacement parts but as of yet are unable to acquire the necessary pieces to use the units.

TLDR: If the listing had been accurate, I probably wouldn't have purchased. The HEADING for this listing is: "SunBlaster SL1600220 Growlight Garden-T5 Bulbs Included, Black"It says "T5 Bulbs Included". They are not T5 bulbs. They are LED strips. The product DESCRIPTION says: "Two Sun Blaster 24" 17 Watt 6400K Grow Lamps with Ballasts ". They are 18" LED strip lights.I have a couple of really inexpensive LED strip lights (the three-armed versions you see on Amazon). Using a light meter the same distance below the inexpensive strip lights and the LED strips in the hood of this unit showed a significantly lower LUX reading with the lights in this unit.I could find no indication of a lumens rating for these LED strips. The other fault I found has been mentioned in other reviews: It's very difficult to raise/lower/adjust the hood height, but this wouldn't be a deal breaker for me on its own. I have someone to assist me with that. What would be nice would be a TILT mechanism so you could tilt the hood back to check on the plants.I've been very excited about getting this, and I feel quite disappointed since it arrived today. It's a great idea, and should have been perfect for my needs.Edited Review 2/10/2022 -- I don't use the watering system for my mesembs, so I was able to reclaim a bunch of "real estate" in the unit that was going to waste. I couldn't just put all the plants in the bare unit because the hood needs to be so close to these plants that I wasn't able to see them very well for monitoring, and didn't have enough room to remove plants for watering.I put the "pedestal" (part of the watering setup) in the bottom of the unit to raise the plants out of the high-sided bottom, giving me a better view/access. Then I bought a piece of 1/8" thick acrylic sheet and cut it to fit the interior of the unit. I laid it on top of the "pedestal", and was able to achieve edge-to-edge usage of the space. See my last two photos, which illustrate what I'm explaining.

Every feature on it it’s good quality and easy to use except the hood adjustments are Hard to screw in mad out because of the weight of the hood. I ended up using ratchet straps from the ceiling. Built sturdy and works great for harding off new seedlings and clones. Highly recommend!

I purchased this LED grow light on August 11, 2020. Shortly after, I planted the Petunia Wave Carmine Velour Hybrid and Petunia Easy Wave Pink Passion Hybrid from seed (Park Seed) indoors under this LED grow light. Pic the left was taken on September 30 and the one on the right was taken on December 20th. I recently transplanted 7 out of 9 in my yard.I HIGHLY recommend this LED grow light. I even bought the smaller version to this and I'm considering buying another one of these (this model).UPDATE: added 3 pics to show the LED lighting this unit comes with.

This is the BEST system I've ever had for starting seed and growing vegetables indoors. It's so much fun. I can't say enought about how good the lights are, and the fact that they are adjustable!
