Nice size and it delivers a good shock. If you have the means to plug it in, this is a decent item.

This charger was easy to install and is working great. Its working better than the Tractor Supply charger I bought that costs a lot more. We use it for our guardian dogs and dumb goats who insist on messing with the fences. It keeps them away from the fences in the main animal area. Very please with this charger.

This charger works well with my poultry fencing. So far so good.

We got this to keep coyotes out of our yard. Unfortunately, right out of the box it is not working. My husband spent some time troubleshooting it and it's just dead. There seems to be nothing he can do to get it to work.

I ordered this to charge electric tape to deter a dog from jumping a fence. It was easy to set up and functioned as described.Years ago I raised sheep (which are notoriously difficult to keep behind a strand or two of electric fencing like that which keeps cattle well contained), and I learned a lot about fence energizers. Usually, if a product claims a 10 mile distance, you can assume it will cover a few miles of linear distance. And, of course, you can't have weeds or tall grass grounding out the charge. A super potent charger can actually burn through some vegetation, but this size charger has to be accompanied by good fence management.Since we only needed to zap a wayward dog and we were using 3/4" wide tape, this 5 mile/20 acres model was quite sufficient. Dogs are weanies. I would also recommend this size charger to protect a garden - but you still need something like electronet, not just a single strand or two.But I wouldn't try to contain somewhat belligerent livestock in a space more than maybe a 2-4 acre paddock size with this size energizer. That's just based on my experience, not actually testing this charger. It's all about the joules. For my needs, this fencer worked perfectly.

This charger works but not that powerful, I have it around a chicken pen to keep out predators and it does not even arc the fence when I purposely ground the fence. Hooked in easily to my wire, power cord is extremely short. It may protect my chickens.

This is a basic โno frillsโ energizer - the same type that I always order whenever we need a charger and power is available. Although this one is rated for 20 miles and 5 acres, I never rely on the numbers, since theyโre typically calculated under optimal conditions; I always try to limit their use to approximately 60% of the reported output. The manufacturer includes 250โ of 17-gauge aluminum wire, which is fine for keeping pests out, but, since I ordered this unit to power a hot wire to keep goats off our field fencing, Iโll be ordering something a bit heftier. Iโm comfortable that the energizer itself will suffice (itโs a 1500โ run), but, if I were purchasing this for an all-electric fence, Iโd definitely would go with more joules.Iโm a firm believer in the old adage to buy at least twice the charger you think you need, but, as long as you understand this unitโs limitations, itโs a deal - especially since this style has proven to be dependable and durable over the years. If I run into any issues, however, Iโll definitely update this review.
