Installed an electric fence around my grass yard that was being torn up by wild boars and racoons. Since instalation, I've no more trouble with boars or racoons or any other destructive animals.

My old charger just did not maintain its charge. My goats were in for a rude awakening. This seems to make my dog very nervous. She won't enter areas that are attached to this and can tell whether or not it is on. So, it must make some kind of noise other than the normal little click when the charge goes through. My child doesn't hear anything and I have normal hearing for a person in her 30's. It does not bother my goats at all and they are super jazzed to go into their new pens. It only bothers the dog. If you are looking to keep dogs/coyotes out, this could be a huge benefit. It is very effective and easy to set up and operate. My soil is rocky and most of my property is on ledge with only a few inches of top soil.

This electric fence charger looks well made and I like that it has screw on connectors so the wire can be secured to it well. However, the alligator clips are super small and flimsy with super thin gauge wires so they will have to be replaced with something way more robust like my other electric fence chargers have. It is very convenient that this fence charger can work of the battery power as well as the grid power if needed. I think it is easy to use and it is properly priced so I will be recommending it.

Higher votage output than all the many other units I have purchased, even on a net fence with a lot of grass shunting power. Uses more power as well, I had to upgrade my battery. If the power drops below a minimum threshold and then comes back up [solar power] the unit will not restart - it kind of locks up. It is cheaply made but all things considered, I like the unit and if it lasts a few years without failing [like so many other units have] I would buy another one.

I'm familiar with electric fences that simply maintain a voltage, and then when something like an animal shorts them out, they dump the current through the animal but cut it off quickly. These fences use almost no power, because nothing is happening unless something causes a short circuit. This electric fence is different. From what I can understand after several questions and responses with the company, it discharges every second and has no internal power storage despite the big plastic box. Therefore, it must be hooked up to power sufficient to create an adequate shock to the animal, as usual. I do not understand why it discharges every second. Perhaps that is to minimize the shock, but then why advertise it for large animals? Also they suggest powering it with a solar panel. Given the very gradual production of a solar panel (unless you put a battery in the circuit, which they don't mention) how much of a tickle would that give? I've asked them this question, but it's been a day and no answer so I am moving on.There may be benefits to their method, but I will here simply report what I've figured out about the device. I probably won't use it, because I don't see the benefit over the conventional type of electric fence. If I learn new and important information, I'll update the review and possibly the rating.

This fence charger puts out a nice stout shock and has so for kept my swine inline. And it being dual power is great especially as hurricane season comes around the dual power feature offers a way to make that even if I lose power I can still run my fence charger . Right now I have it running 4 pens of electric netting and it is doing just fine. So far this charger hasnt missed a beat but I will update is anything changes . So my ending thoughts are , that I am happy with with this fence charger and I find the dual power feature to be pretty sweet.
