Output tests as it should , maxing out my meter. This is just tested at the posts. I like the 3joule output as I have bears to deter. I am using solar now, but not in a good setting for sun exposure. I now have 120v power so will be converting to this unit. The one thing I don't like with this unit is it is not purported to be "weather proof" . I wish it was as it would be easier in this situation to install. Be as it may, I purchased a clear cover, waterproof , electrical junction box to install it in. The box sounds fancy, but it wasn't too expensive, and saves me building anything.

When I get my new house I will be using this mostly to keep out the unwanted animals. I do not expect I will be having any animals except chicken, geese, and ducks. The description says it "Energizes up to 10 miles of electric fencing". Not sure I will need that much but it is good to know.I like the fact it has three different ways to hook it up:1) To an AC power electric outlet2) to a DC power battery3) to a 12 Volt solar panel battery supplyThe one thing I did notice, that was not mentioned, was each image shows this electric fence charger is in a enclosed box. I know it is for security and weather protection. I will have to build one.All-in-all, I feel this small electric fence charger is fit for a small piece of property.
