I notched the bottom, using my table saw, so this functional vent would sit on top of the lower trim of my existing 35 year old deteriorating wood vent. I stapled screen to the back and put two coats of paint on the front. Paint's not strickly necessary, but might as well since I'm there.This is a very well made vent and should last a very long time requiring almost no attention.

Nicely made and easy to install. Comes primed but the surface texture is rough and it needs at least one or two coats of good house paint.

Staple or caulk in screening to the inside to keep bugs out of attic. Great product...
