Works great but don't toss the old unit before you install the new one. I had to use the wiring harness, hardware, connection to the water input and the sensor arm from the old unit. This is not a criticism, it was easy to do and intuitive if you have the old icemaker and take your time.

Sadly the adapters (5 prong circle and 4 prong line) that came with it weren’t a match to our fridge (Whirpool WRT318FZDM), so we had to order the 8 prong power adapter separately. The install was fairly easy - make sure you measure where your water is dispensed first and cut the plastic out to match BEFORE you screw in the machine. The ice is good and produces very frequently! This kit didn’t come with an ice bucket, so you need to order one of those as well.

My refrigerator was a 2012 with early version wire harness (small pin molineux connector), had to modify one of the included harnesses to fit. Doing a soldering job with heat shrink tubing, follow the wiring color code(connector wire positions have changed)and use the new 199° f ice tray heater sensor disconnect (in case your old one is toast) in the modified harness you are making. The ice maker fit perfectly with included lower front support plastic bracket. Had to cut out the dimpled water fill opening as instructed. I let the refrigerator run overnight with catch tray/dispenser installed, before dropping the ice demand bar down, in the morning, turning on the unit. It worked perfectly. I did "not" have to adjust the water fill volume...Fixed

"Move to California" they said. "It will be an adventure" they said. People that belong in the cold should not live in a desert. Believe it or not, not all of california is Hollywood and beaches. This is farmland and oilfields. So sll ing ice to an eskimo...... I never thought it would happen.Getting a little overheated is kind of expected when you live in a climate that only dips down to your known 'warm summer breeze' in the middle of their winter. Having ice for your beverages helps overcome that. The house came with a maytag refrigerator/freezer side by side with water and, you guessed it, ice in the door. The ice worked for the first two months I lived here. However December and January in the northern hemisphere has little need for ice in any capacity. When it broke in January, it was not the end of my world. I will survive.February saw temps as high as 70F and I wanted to die. I did something i vowed i never would. I called a handyman to come fix it. He got to my house a few days later only to do some tinkering with the ice maker and tell me it's fixed and charge me $250. Three days later, there was still no new ice. I called him back and he showed up three hours later and let me know the condenser was bad and it needed to be replaced. He then started calling his parts providers. An hour later he tells me that nobody makes that part any more and i can stick with the appliance or buy a new one.The next day i went out to price a new freezer with an ice maker and came home with ice trays for my freezer. Can you believe the lowest price i found with an ice maker was over $900? Just for ice? I've clubbed seals that lasted in a wood box for over three years. Not a chance I was gonna spend $900 for a crappy freezer. There had to be another answer. After calling the manufacturer, six parts suppliers and another handyman, I did what I should have done months before. I checked Amazon. Lo and behold, this is exactly the part I needed. Two hellish days later at 73F, my ice maker arrived. It took all of 5 minutes for my mechanically declined fingers to install the little part. A few hours later I heard the most glorious sound ever. It was the crunch of ice toppling out of the maker into the hopper. The ice trays I had bought could retire. The inconvenience of filling them every time you empty them is obviously beneath the teenager's of the world. No drink in this home will ever run empty of ice again, and with the summer peaking at 117F, that's a necessity. California will not defeat this eskimo.

The wiring harness shown in the picture (which was not included in my order, but no big deal as you can reuse the original) connects the ice maker to the freezer and provides power and signals when to come on and when to turn off. The smaller male end of the harness plugs into the female wiring harness clip on the ice maker. Unfortunately my replacement ice maker did not include the female clip. It should have been in the little slot (circled in my picture). Without that clip, there is no way to attach the wiring harness and the unit is worthless. I thought maybe I was supposed to reuse the clip off of the original ice maker. Nope, it is soldered to the ice maker, as it should be. Very frustrating to discover the manufacturer missed this step in production after I already had my freezer taken apart.

It works. Already had one for about 4 years and it died. Not durable like original but far less money. It does the job, fits and makes ice. Wire harness supplied may or may not work for your fridge but you can easily reuse your old one.
