The blades are sharp and the block is well-sqaured; however, I found this trimmer difficult to use on the ~50 feet of birch edging I used while building built-ins. On 3/4” material it can be hard to get good and square before starting the trim, and it’s also a little tough to keep it square while trimming. It worked, and it got the job done, but I had several sections where it cut either too close and left a chamfer on the inside or not close enough and left an edge. I also found the shaver to be useless.If you need “just good enough”, this may work. Otherwise I’d suggest find another option.

The banding trimmer works as advertised, even on thicker materials than expected. Even after finishing a veneer or laminate project it's good to keep it in the toolbox for uses from trimming to opening banded shipping boxes. The plane was less impressive. First it was set up to cut on the push stroke rather than pull. Then I injured my fingers trying to swap the direction of the blade on the handle. Grab the cut proof gloves and some tools to get this plane scraping in the correct direction and it's still not great because of the ergonomically unfriendly handle. But everything does its job, so I'll round up to a 3 out of 5.
