Ideal for portable or machine drilling. Short, rugged construction performs well in a broad range of materials in the iron and steel families. I needed to make 104 holes in 3/8” thick A36 steel, so I ordered these drill bits because I thought it would take quite a few to do this.I was mistaken! I used only one drill bit for all 104 holes. Yes, I had to “freshen it up” after each 26 holes on my bench grinder, but this one bit drilled well and easily with a true hole size for all 104 holes. That surprised me, to say the least.I now have 7 good 7/16” drills to use for other projects.

Recently acquired a new set of drill cabinets and decided to fill them with stub/screw length drills. Needing over 1,000 bits, I gave these “Drill America” bits a try. Ordered 3 dozen sizes that were well under $1 per bit.My single order arrived in 3 boxes and 16 envelopes over a 5 day period delivered by 4 different couriers. I had to create a spreadsheet to match what I received with what I ordered. Even with that I’m not 100% sure I received everything I paid for as the order was split into 6 charges on my credit card.Over half the bits had no markings on them. Of those that were marked, less than half had a country of origin. The denoted sources were Brazil, China, India, USA, and Sweden.4 packages of drill bits were not black oxide. I ordered two two packages of the same drill bit size. One package arrive black oxide and one arrived without its coating. One of the sizes contained bits that didn’t match. They were all of different lengths and different flutes. As someone previously commented, not all of these are 135° split point drill bits. Less than half were split points. Some bits even looked like 118° points, though I didn’t measure them.On a plus note, only 1 package was off in its count. Its packaging was opened prior to boxing so guessing half the bits for that size are sitting somewhere on an Amazon warehouse shelf or in a trash can.Overall I got what I paid for. Even at prices as low as 10 cents per bit, I regret buying them. Next time I’ll bite the bullet and pay for quality bits from my favorite drill specialty web site.

THIS DRILL BIT IS LISTED AS A SPLIT POINT. I SAY AGAIN SPLINT POINT. I DON'T MIND THAT IT IS MADE IN CHINA BUTT WHEN I ORDER A SCREW MACHINE 135DEG. SPLIT POINT THAT IS WHAT I WANT. I GOT THE SAME BIT YESTERDAY AND AM RETURNING THAT ONE. BUT SINCE THEY CAN NOT GET THIS RIGHT AND I HAVE A JOB TO GET OUT I MA JUST GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE DO.

I did about 400 holes with one bit, no sharping jut drilling.
