Rod can be a little difficult to get into holder but rod is secure once in. Solid build quality. Seems durable and long lasting and functional.

I was fishing on upper Owen’s river and hooked up to a 12lb brown trout, upon landing this fish I was able to put my pole onto the pole holder and use both hands to unhook and release the fish to catch another day.

I never knew how much I needed this until I had it! Being able to clip my rod to my belt and have both hands free to tie my flies on or do other things has made fly fishing so much more enjoyable!!

Truth be told, its just not a great way to carry a rod. I would excuse that, to some degree, however it wasn't able to keep a grip, and my rod slipped down!

Took a chance afer reading some mixed reviews. Wouldn't bother with this to be honest. Very sharp edges and not a great hold.

This has replaced my worn our vest velcro.Holds the rod easily, albeit more vertically than vest holder. Was at an event at Orvis and was telling guys how much great this was as they were looking at the name brand itemThe fact that you get two makes it an even better deal.

I have the name brand version of this item, but needed a spare for my young son. I'm torn on whether I should just spend twice the amount for another name brand, or let him use this one.The problem is the aluminum housing is cut pretty sharp, not rounded on any of the corners or edges especially where the rod enters. It would be VERY easy for someone to score the side of their rod on the sharp aluminum while inserting in a hurry, like while landing a fish, or such. Score line then equals rod snapping on the next big fish.I will probably just take a file and some green abrasive pad to it and round off the corners... But buyers should be aware of the issue. This product would be a home run if they took the time to round and polish down the corners and edges so they weren't sharp.Edit - Changed my mind; just going to return it. Not worth the risk to expensive rods, going to get the name brand version.
