Fits and works on 2008 ram 1500 5.7L quad cab Actually a better than OEM replacement. The whole install took about 20 mins. The instructions say to cut into the system. Definitely don't do that.1. Remove Glove box. (push in top edges)2. Take 3 bolts (8mm) off of blower motor.3. Reach under and through where blower motor was and remove old flap.4. Take off actuator 2 Phillips head screws.5. Pull out white plastic OEM Pin ( I used pliers).5. Insert new cast aluminum Pin where white one was.6. Push new flap against top of vent and push onto new aluminum Pin. (Takes some effort)7. Reinstall actuator8. Reinstall Blower Motor.9. Test to see if vent closes and opens. Turn on A/C and cycle between recycle and outside air.10. Reinstall Glove box.

I have an 06 Ram 2500 and the factory plastic drive from motor to blend door broke, like every other Ram. This Dorman blend door fits perfectly and the metal drive is a clear upgrade from factory. The foam is a better quality too.

It is indeed a sturdier then OEM as far as the "GEARED" end goes...being metal...but where these generally break is in the top strip that the "GEAR" connects to....if the entire piece was made of metal and the door itself was plastic it would be better.....nonetheless it fit well and now works well again...thank you

Like so many others my recirc door failed. I looked around at the different forums and sites that sell their doors. If I had the money I would have gone with the all steel doors but to replace all 4 doors it’s $235. Recirc door is the easiest to replace without having to remove the dash and plenum box completely. For the price of this door it’s hard to compete. The hinge that fails on OEM was replaced with a metal hinge and the plastic felt reinforced compared to OEM. Installed in about 20 minutes. Will update if door fails.

Wouldnt suggest a freakout/anger management type person to install the recirc door with out pulling dash. Screws for motor very tough to get out and the old drive is clipped into box, you have to pretty well break it out. Works good though!

I am very happy with the blend door repair kit. The three stars for installation are not the fault of the doorman company, but the way the truck was designed. It's just tough to get to the spot without taking the whole dashboard apart.

I'm so glad I read the reviews on this. I actually bought this part when I bought the truck used because although it didn't need it, I thought I would eventually. It's the number one repair from what I read. About 6 months later the air is barely blowing out of the vents despite having the fan on high. I asked a local auto repair guy I knew how much he would charge to install it. They told me it would take 6 hours and cost $600!! So I went back and read the reviews. Several have said you do not need to remove the dash. I could not find a youtube video showing this (they all remove part of the dash). I'm a 42 yr old woman who never works on cars. But I'm determined and I can follow instructions. What would it hurt to try to fix it by just removing the glove box? I'm so glad I tried. You just need to remove the glove box which took me a little while to do. I ended up using a screw driver to help deflect the sides in enough to get the pins and rubber things free. I think a short flat head, a short phillips head screwdriver, and needle nose pliers are all that you need for everything else. It would be good if they are magnetic tipped but it's not necessary. After removing the glove box you need to remove the fan using the short flat head screwdriver. There are 3 screws. Start with the one that is hardest to reach in the back as it is too difficult to remove with the fan hanging down. After the screws are removed, you just unplug the fan and set to the side.If this blend door is broken you will be able to see it blocking the opening to the fan housing and you can just reach up through the fan area and grab it. You will notice that you can go up with your hand quite a bit. The blend door is rectangular. You need to rotate it up so you can pull it out by the short end. Then you need to remove the 2 brass colored screws holding the motor in place that rotates the blend door using the short phillips head screwdriver. There will be a white pin type piece the motor fit into that you need to pull out with pliers. Pull hard, you won't break anything, it is just force fit. Now take the gray end off the new blend door and put it in the place where you removed the white piece. Maneuver the new blend door in position up through the fan housing. Get the pivot point on the opposite side in and push the gray part from the outside into the end of the blend door (you might have to rotate the gray part as it is a keyed fit). Check to see that you can rotate the gray end that the motor fits into and cause the blend door to rotate. Now screw the motor back into place using the 2 brass screws. Then reattach the fan and plug back in. Reattach the glove box. Start your truck and try out the recirculation. The air flow should be great. All told it would have taken me just 30 minutes if I had not had to search for the tools. It is awkward to get to some of the places but not impossible. I am not a mechanic at all. So I am beyond thrilled that I could fix this myself without having to remove the dash and saved myself $600 and the hassle of having to leave the truck with a mechanic. If I can do it ... you can do it.

This fit my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Hemi Extended cab and is working just fine. Total install time for this part was about 4 hours for me. With a little practice though it would only have taken an hour to complete.I also replace the blower motor with one from Four Seasons on Amazon as well a the resistor from Standard Auto Parts. I recommend doing all 3 at once. The blower motor draws excessive current which is what is burning out the resistor. The cause of the blower motor drawing too much current appears to be the broken blend/re-circ door which is restricting air flow, back building pressure and causing the blower motor to work harder to move the air.I recommend replacing all 3 parts at once. The blend/re-circ door does require tearing into the dash but it's really not that difficult. There are literally dozens of howto videos on Youtube that walk you through this.I was able to pull the broken door out through the blower opening but it took a lot of trial and error. Eventually I pulled the end with the broken axle down while twisting the other end up and towards the firewall. There's an opening there that the door will fit into. Then it came out. Find one of the many videos online for opening the dash. It's not hard but it helps to see the dash pictures and videos as it's being opened. All the screws in the dash were the same on my truck except for the 2 screws that hold the driver's side panel at your knees in place. Yes, you have to open up the dash all the way across to the driver's side. The panels overlap each other. The passenger side panels went in first and are on bottom. You have to remove:the glove box (no screws)the driver's side knee panel first (2 screws)the panel around the radio that contains the environmental control knobs (1 screw above the plastic hook between the enviro controls and glove box)the lower collar that covers the bottom of the dash supports under the cup holder assembly (no screws)the cup holder assembly (6 screws)the cap on the far right side of the dash against the door panel (no screws)the lower dash insert (at least a couple dozen screws)The glove box isn't hard. The top prys down to get the plastic tabs that keep the box from opening too far down and under the frame. Hold the bottom of the box while you do this to keep from breaking the plastic pivots at the bottom of the box that hook the box onto the frame. Then basically dump the box all the way down and lift it away.Taking everything apart from here isn't bad. You will have to use some dexterity to reach up in the dash to remove the actuator motor on the side of the blend duct. Pull the white plastic tab out with needle nose pliers. I'd recommend wearing gloves. The edges of the stamped metal frame are sharp. Cover the exposed metal with one gloved hand while using the other to pull and wiggle the white plastic key out. Pull hard to the driver's side. It will eventually pop free. The key for my new door was jammed hard into the new door fresh from the box. So hard that I thought the key was molded to the door. I pulled and tugged and pried at this time and finally got it loose with some slight wiggling (not too much, you don't want to break the door) and a little thin screwdriver prying. I don't know why it was jammed in their so tight but it eventually came loose.Holding the new dash door in the right orientation while inserting the new metal key is difficult. I positioned it with one hand and then used the handle of a long screwdriver to press it into place while I free up my hand to insert the key. Then I slipped on the actuator, screwed it in place, installed the motor, held the enviro panel up to the wire connectors and connected the 2 needed for HVAC and then turned the key on. I was able to test the blower and door at this point before going any further. Once I knew all was well I closed it all back up. I have heat again! My Dodge doesn't appear to need the Mode 1 or 2 doors best I can tell. Everything seems to be functioning again. Best of luck!
