I picked this because I am doing some remodelling on the house and need to remove some stone blocks. The bit has a good layer of diamond coating. It fits perfectly on my 5/8-11 grinder arbour, check the size before ordering as some grinders may have different screw size on the arbour, but the most common is 5/8-11.To fit on a drill, an adapter can be used, but at this size, fast rotation is a must and a grinder is the best option.

Comments:I have a 45-year-old home with a wood frame and brick veneer. Over the years, I've replaced about ten bricks myself and had my chimney professionally replaced.Brick Replacement Tips:1. Color Matching: The hardest part of brick replacement is color-matching old, weathered bricks with new ones. If you need to remove bricks from your home, save a dozen or more for future repairs. You'll be grateful later. For example, when I replaced my chimney, I went to a Masonry Supply Store that services the masonry trades with one of my saved bricks. They found a close match, and from the ground, the new chimney bricks look perfect!2. Mortar Color: Mortar usually comes in gray but can be tinted if needed. Fortunately, the standard gray worked for me, so I didn't need to test my color-matching skills!Replacing a Brick:Primary masonry tools consist of a brick jointer, tuck pointing tool, and a masonry brush. An optional tool is a mortar bag which you may or may not find useful when replacing one brick.Grinding Tools:• 4-1/2-inch grinder with a diamond blade• Oscillating tool with a diamond blade• BRSCHNITT Diamond Mortar Raking Bit: I'm anxious to try this in the spring since it's winter here in Canada - not the best time for brick replacement! My Method:1. Drilling Holes: I drill four holes, one in each corner of the brick mortar that needs replacement, using a diamond or carbide drill bit.2. Cutting Mortar: I use my 4-1/2 Dewalt grinder with a diamond blade to cut into the center of the mortar joint. Holding the grinder tightly prevents it from bouncing and damaging the face of the brick.3. Removing Mortar: I then use my chisel to remove any remaining mortar and remove the brick. Be careful with surrounding bricks as they can be damaged if you don’t take it slow and easy.4. Cleaning and Preparing: Once the brick has been removed, vacuum and clean the open joints with water to remove any debris. Tape around the opening with duct tape to protect the surrounding bricks from excess mortar.5. Setting the New Brick: Mix a small portion of mortar, spray the bricks with water, and apply the mortar to the surrounding bricks. Use shims to hold the brick level and plumb to surrounding mortar lines.6. Finishing: When the mortar has set, remove the shims, fill the voids with mortar, and use a tuck-pointing tool to shape the mortar joint. Clean any excess mortar with the masonry brush. Remove the duct tape and clean any residue from the surrounding bricks with the masonry brush.Bottom Line:I have about four bricks to replace and I'm looking forward to trying out the BRSCHNITT Diamond Mortar Raking Bit. Hopefully, it cuts down on the time it takes to remove bricks. That would be a win for me. I'll give it four stars for innovation and perhaps upgrade to five stars later.

Well-made raking bit. This has a generous amount of diamond grit and a sharp carbide tip. This bit will fit on a grinder, but can also be used with an SDS if you have a 5/8-11 threaded adapter. I happened to have this adapter for use with core bits, so I tried using this with my SDS. It worked perfectly to clean out old mortar between bricks. Can also be used to remove the mortar between bricks completely. This may be helpful if you need to add a vent to an existing brick wall, or if you need to completely redo a section of brick. Much cleaner than demolishing bricks with a chisel.

Information provided for this raking bit indicates it works well for vertical joints, so instead of using a punch, chisel, and flat-bladed screwdriver to clean deteriorating mortar joints in our brick walkway, I obtained this too. I found it easy to position and control and effective in speeding the mortar-removal process.I am glad I found and acquired it. I recommend it for others who want to refurbish their brick walkways.

Worked great for a few cuts but cutting tip wore out in 10 min
