This little device is really easy to use. Just clamp the device onto your chain bar, tighten the black knobs, insert a grinding bar into the handle and push the grinding bar in the device. Then just rotate while pushing in, and in 5 turns, your chain is sharpened. Then simply move to the next tooth and repeat the steps.I like the hard storage case, the five sharpening bits and the included gloves in this kit. Best of all, I never have to pay someone else to sharpen my chainsaw chains.5 Sharp Stars!

But it's labor intensive, and takes far too long. There's a chainsaw sharpening service near us that will sharpen a chain for $5. I think that's a better solution for me.

I was a bit cautious about this item. Sharpening chain saw blades is time consuming and an imperfect science. This device helps to streamline the process and sharpens each link at the same precise angle. That means sharper blades, less wear and tear on your chain saw, and a longer working time between sharpening.The operation is all manual (no power needed), and the device works equally well on 8" to 25" chain saws. It's a bit cumbursome to adjust the guide at each link, but that annoyance is more than made up for in greater efficiency at the other end.The sharpening bits are specific to this device, but replacements are available on Amazon.

I kept purchasing new chains instead of trying to re-sharpen my existing ones, so I picked this up to try - and after a little bit of set up and familiarity, it went incredibly well.Small overall package that is easy to bring with you on the road.Comes with sharpening bits, gloves, and the jig itself.I am happy with the purchase.

I was cutting down trees in my backyard when I hit a rock performing a flush cut at the bottom of the stump. I dulled the chain pretty bad and I ordered this instead of trying to order another chain. It took me about twenty minutes to sharpen the entire chain from both directions of the chain’s cutting teeth. It’s worth a try if you don’t have surgeons hands to keep round file at the correct angle.

I keep trying to find a sharpening method for my chainsaws that would be faster than a simple round file. I have an electric grinder which works reasonably well but requires the chain to be removed. That's fine if you have some extra chains, you can switch to a new/sharp chain when you are in the process of cutting up logs and sharpen the dulled chain later but having a method to quickly sharpen a chain while on the saw would be a nice option if you've run out of sharp chains. I thought this HOAIXUN Sharpening jig might be the ticket but it was taking me about 5 minutes to get the jig in place for each cutter (over an hour to sharpen the entire chain) and the sharpening rod (operated like an old style pencil sharpener) really didn't seem to sharpen the cutter very well. It's true the jig keeps the sharpening rod at a precise 30 degree angle but, in my experience, that level the precision isn't really necessary. I guess I stick to my round file.

Forgive me, but I was really excited for this sharpener, and I feel like the best way to sharpen is with the old tried and tested method.This sharpener comes with a cool container, the anodized color is cool and matches the chainsaw colors. The tool comes with multiple sharpening bits and a little pamphlet on how to use it all. Oh and there are even some gloves in the kit too.It takes a few minutes to realize how this sharpener works. To get the sharpener placed properly where the teeth could move freely and I could start sharpening and advancing the chain took far too long. Learning how to get the teeth to sharpen took a few attempts, but even when I got everything running smoothly it still doesn't feel sharp and the depth guages on the chain would still need to be filed down after hitting the chain. I don't think the ease of use or time saving qualities are there for me to love the product.I personally think that it would take a few chains to get halfway proficient at sharpening used this method and then I don't think it would save any time. To each their own I guess.

The sharpening "stones" are worthless. The wore off the first time I tried to sharpen my chain.
