From the Manufacturer

BOSTITCH engineered the MFN-201 flooring cleat nailer for users that prefer to install flooring manually. As a result, it requires no compressor or hose when driving fasteners. Its thoughtful design protects delicate flooring while maximizing user comfort. The MFN-201 installs both pre-finished and unfinished flooring (thicknesses of 1/2 In. to 3/4 In.).

This nailer worked like it should once we got the hang of it. Is a good value for the money, and portable - came with a heavy duty storage and carrying case. As for durability, this thing is a beast and will last for all the jobs I have planned in the future and then some. I can’t wait to get started on the next floor!!!

It would work well for a while and then jam, usually with two fasteners sticking out. Each time I could unjam it reasonably easily but on this last jam the piston stuck in the down position and defies all efforts to unstick it. Two days after the return window closes. Yeah, it's warranted, but the nearest service center is 75 miles away.

I used this to install 3/4 inch hardwood floors in my house. There are times when the nails come out perfectly, but then there are times when they get deformed or two nails shoot out at once. I realize that some of this may be that the machine needs to be used within certain parameters and the user needs to get used to the machine. But honestly, why bother when other machines are not neurotic. Mid way through the job, I got so frustrated that I went to home depot and rented a pneumatic nailer and then I was able to install my floor at a much faster rate and virtually no deformed nails.

Worked well .. the only issue is it would Jan about every 5th reload. I used the recommended supplies it just didn’t seem to help.. literally every 5th reload.. it was easy to use and it is a good value that’s why I still gave it a high rating. As long as you don’t mind inhaling it every now and then .

Just finished installing 600 square feet of 3/4 hardwood. Worked great and didn't waste any nails. Doesn't mark the flooring. Used the ratcheting mode. The trick is to make the first hit with confidence. If you hit lazily, it will lead to a jam. Otherwise, a great tool for those who don't want to use a compressor. It works with any standard nails too, not just Bostitch brand nails.

Machine is a good product. This was used on a variety of woods from pine, maple and oak. Used the ratcheting setting to install flooring. It is not as difficult as one may expect. While not effortless, it is as you may imagine substantially quieter than the air mailers. No jams with feed of cleats were problem caused by machine. Had three jams that were easily cleared. These were induced by me while working near wall and trying to not scuff wall area with mallet. Will continue use of this in lieu of air nailer.

This nailer is rock solid all the way. No misfires. No problems. Nice storage case. The ratcheting feature makes driving cleats much easier than by single blow: one tap to set the cleat and then a quick slam to drive it home. In the beginning the operation seems a little hard and tiring but that’s more a matter of technique than anything else. Once you feel confident about the swing of the hammer, it goes along quite easily. I’m happy that I bought this tool instead of renting. My flooring project took a while and I didn’t feel rushed in having to get a tool back before rental costs accumulated.

I'm extremely satisfied with this flooring nailer kit. Even though it may have been a bit cheaper to have rented a nailer from a local rental store, having the flexibility of installing the floor at my schedule and actually having something in the end to show for my money was very nice. Now I have it when I get ready to install my two remaining floors and also can lend it out to friends and relatives if they need one. It was a bit of a workout but once you got the hang of it, it really wasn't that bad. Only had two mis-strikes (destroyed the flooring boards getting those cleats out!) which were my fault anyway. Very please with this purchase!

I am using this nailer for installing 3/4 inch oak that was salvaged from a house demolition. This is my first installation and when I researched nailers I was intimidated by the "muscle" factor most people said they needed to use this. It was actually very easy to use, and I didn't have to buy or rent a compressor or worry about hoses or the amount of pressure needed. If you're an amateur installer I would definitely recommend this.A few suggestions--on your first course near the wall, only use a half-stack of nails so you can get closer to the wall without hitting it; keep an eye on how well the nail is driven in so that the next course fits tightly (you will have a nail set with you at all times); use a piece of plywood when nearing the end wall so that you don't wreck the wall swinging the hammer.I was a little worried about a "reconditioned" product, but this nailer came in its original case with all the paperwork (and a 1-year warranty) and looked and worked like it was new. I jammed it once about 100 nails in (my fault) and it was easy enough to take apart and clear the jam.Living room and hall are done, the bedroom is next!
