Hago hike y montañismo y tengo varios tipos de calzado para esta actividad. Este modelo de Altra es lo mejor que he probado para caminatas largas en terrenos no demasiado técnicos. Comodidad y protección garantizadas. Voy por mi segundo par.

Very comfy with large toe box

Thankfully I decided to test these out at home before hitting the trail. The shoe portion is roomy and feels very comfortable. Most of the ankle has good support and padding except for where the tongue attaches. It is stiff with no padding and that’s directly in contact with my ankle bones. Tried to adjust the lacing but got no relief. Returning.

It’s like hiking in pillows! My feet, knees, hips, and back all feel so much better when I hike now because of these boots! The extra space in the toe box really feels wonderful to me, and the lugs on the bottom make the shoe grip exceptionally well. There’s a loop on the back of the shoe is there so that you’re able to attach a gaiter so that no debris gets in your boot while you hike. I do have issues with my arch, and this boot doesn’t have extra arch support, but there’s plenty of space to add an arch support insert. My only critique is that I wish they had made this one in some prettier colors, but of course, that is such a very minor thing in comparison to everything else. The “6” version does have better colors, but it definitely wasn’t worth $100 more to me to get a color I like. I would say that the dust from hiking blends in nicely with this color, so there’s that. :-)

I love Altra shoes and these are the perfect addition to my collection of hiking boots. Fit true to size. Great color and material is even good for hiking in water. I worn these several times in Zion hiking the narrows.

The back of each shoe has a two loops (one on each side) that hold a loop that goes across the back to tether your boots to a backpack or hang to dry. the challenge is that the hooks on the side of the boots catch inside the loops and cause you to. unexpectedly completely trip when one shoe gets caught made stride. I bruised both hands falling hard on to the hard surface at seatac and then had to cut the loops off ASAP. In addition one of the seams hits the front of the ankle in the soft spot (both sides) that then creates a really painful stride when doing down hill alot (which I did o the Matterhorn trails). So suffice it to say that while I loved the width and comfort and toe box of these shoes, the ankle seam is horrible and the strapping in the back is not well thought out.

I have had several pairs of Altra hiking shoes before, but thought I needed a boot for an upcoming hike in Europe. I found these were too tall for what I needed. Packing them for the trip and carrying them around were also a bit cumbersome. They are light-weight so wouldn't do for more rugged terrain, I don't think. Great quality as Altras are.

I’m obsessed with these shoes they’re so comfortable. I wear women’s size 10 regularly and initially ordered that but they squished my toes a little bit so I got a half size up at 10 1/2 and it fits perfect. I will be buying more shoes from this brand

This is my 6th pair of Altras: they are usually perfect and I love the brand and have gotten my friends hooked on them too.I have run the lugs completely off 2 pairs of the Lone Peak style and bought these to get a stiffer pair more suitable for ankle support, big rocks, and serious hiking. The issues with the seams noted by other customers are indeed so severe that wearing this shoe will result in bleeding ankles. The seams on the inside of the ankle cuff are so stiff they will chafe your skin off and this appears to be due to the use of fabric glue to stablize this portion of the lining for sewing it. There is also a smear of dried fabric glue on the interior lining of one of the shoes which confirmed my suspicions. Additionally, Altra is known for a wide toe box to accomodate a full foot flex, but the right shoe was so narrow I could barely get my foot in it and the left shoe was standard Altra shape/width. This model is also the first pair I've had that have not been exactly true to brand sizing standards: it runs about a quarter size shorter. Absolutely unwearable and that's a pity because the orange color is so fantastic. Returning them.I ordered a second pair a half size up to see if it was a sporadic issue and the next pair was just fine (and it fits fine with thick wool hiking socks). The thicker sole and stiff construction do a fantastic job at stabilizing the ankle and taking the impact on big, pointy rocks and the grippy lugs are better than the competitors, as usual. I just wish there hadn't been this much hassle to get a wearable pair.

Have worn then shoes for about a week and so far so good. I always experiement with various ways to lace up shoes/boots that have a "high Top" and so far no rubbing on my ankle like other reviews talked about. I do wear merino wool socks so that may help. I have worn with tall wet grass and the gortex has kept my foot dry. I haven't tried wearing during a strong rain storm here in the PNW. With rainstorms I shift to extra toughs with superfeet in them. I also haven't hiked/ran on trails yet. I am hoping the vibram sole wears longer then the Altra's soles.
