No point in buying this item and waiting for Amazon delivery when Harbor Freight sells the exact item in store for almost half the price. It's cheaply made but it gets the job done. I never knew when it might break or fly apart, so be sure to wear safety glasses.

The little metal pin that is supposed to hold it all together is loose and falls out, making them impossible to use. Avoid these and spend a little bit more money for a decent set of pliers.UPDATE:I discovered a little spring in the package that you put in with the little metal pin that puts tension on it and keeps it from coming loose and falling out. The mechanism is still so sloppy that it won't open even a small snap right, so it's still crap. But it's not quite as bad as I originally said.

I purchased this tool to replace an CV axel boot on my UTV. I did not want to spend much on this product as I knew that most likely I would only use it a few times.I liked the convenience of having multiple jaws to use with this tool to use on various snap rings in case I ever needed them. I thought the price was reasonable for this set. Upon receiving the tool I was impressed with it’s quality.

These are exactly what I needed. Shipped out quickly and delivered right on time. Fully functional for all my needs, Allowed me to finish the one thing I had been holding off for so long on my motorcycle, unable to swap out my brakes and install a new rim and tire cause I couldn't reach the ring clips on the inside of the hub and there was no way to disengage the outer ring without taking the back one off first do to the way the washers press up against the hub plate, everything is so snug you have to unclip the back ring in order to push the whole assembly back to gain access to the clip in the front. This little tool helped me solve that without a fuss. Very happy with my purchase!! One happy customer here!!

These are good enough to do the job, but. Not sure how many jobs you will get through before they break. Also, to get snaprings to fit, I had to modify them and grind down the pins on the pliers heads. You would think that snaprings pliers would fit snaprings, but apparently not these. They do not feel sturdy, actually quite flimsy. They seem like a good deal, if they were as good as they look. And having different heads for the pliers is great, but they don't work like they should out of the box.

These do the job, but they are certainly not perfect. Other reviews note that the tips tend to slip out. You MUST secure the tip in place with the silver metal clip. It goes in straight, then you twist the back end to hold it in place. If you do it right, the tips won't pop out all the time. If you don't get that spring-loaded clip in place, they fall apart easily. Where you place the tips determine if the pliers open a ring or close it. Easy enough to figure out if you take a few minutes to tinker with it.I do wish they opened a bit wider. I had a hard time getting a couple rings loose because the pliers just didn't open wide enough.Overall, 4 stars. Mostly because they were half the price of other snap ring pliers and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. They work, but don't expect the the highest quality tool in the world.

Great set for the money- it can compress OR expand snap rings and has multiple tip styles. Extremely versatile, although it's not intended for very large snap rings that require a large tool with more leverage. This will work for 90% of the snap rings you'll find in automobiles. I just used it on a fuel pump retainer ring and that was somewhat pushing my luck- I was worried the small pins on the tips of the tool might not survive, but they did.Great addition and a "must have" for anyone who works on automobiles.
