This is by far the best way to light a charcoal fire for grilling. The smell/taste of lighter fluid isn't really appealing to me, and getting coals started using twigs and paper is a hassle. This little gem gets wicked hot fast - and as others have pointed out, there is no on/off switch. When you plug it in, the action starts - so have a plan in mind BEFORE you plug it in. Fire is nothing to be played with, and neither is this fire-starting tool.

This electric fire starter device worked really well and it is really easy to use. The cord is not very long so I needed an extension cable to reach the plug. There no On/Off switch so when you plug it in, the heating element heats up immediately. This is much better way to start the fire on my BBQ. I like this design and I highly recommend this product.

Okay so ... This is pretty amazing! I would absolutely have to plan ahead to use this in any outdoor situation because it requires an outlet. But, it does exactly what it's supposed to. It gets so hot that it can set fire to a lot of different substrates. So, it's probably best if you keep a close eye on it. Even after it's unplugged, until it's completely cooled down.You could probably use this to brand stuff as well.Overall, good heating element/ fire starter.

Although there is no more fighting with matches to light the charcoal. This does take a little bit to get hot enough to light the charcoal. Overall, it's pretty good. Need just a little bit of patience. It's easy size for travel.A little bit on the slow side for heating. But overall pretty good value for the money, instead of fighting with matches.

Charcoal Charcoal, food tastes amazing with it but is always a pain to light them up, thanks to this electric charcoal starter that actually saves me some aggravation as I can get all my grilling things ready and the electric starter takes care of the rest. Love it, hopefully last long enough.

I'm afraid of getting too close, and I'm new at having my own backyard area and even a grill. This has eased me into learning new things. It's LARGE, much larger than I. Expected, and very well made. It keeps me a safe distance from the flame. And it forces me to unplug it when done, which I'm usually terrible at. So I love that function.
