a couple of weeks ago, i got this hole saw kit for putting in recessed lights in my living room and hallway. i’ve been doing some upgrades, and this seemed like a decent option for cutting through drywall and ceiling materials. after using it for a few different cuts, it works, but it’s definitely not as easy as i’d hoped.the saws themselves feel sturdy enough, and the teeth stayed sharp through multiple cuts, but you’ve got to be careful with alignment. the drill bit at the center has a tendency to wander if i’m not holding it steady, especially if i’m starting on a slightly uneven surface or thicker material. i had to restart one of the holes because the bit didn’t catch properly, and it ended up making a mess of the drywall.the dust bowl attachment is okay – it doesn’t catch everything, though. maybe 60-70% of the dust gets trapped, but i still had some cleanup to do. when i was working overhead on the ceiling, it kept the worst of the dust from falling on me, but there were still small piles on the floor afterward. better than nothing, but i wasn’t expecting perfection.the 6-inch size was fine for the larger recessed lights, and the 4-inch worked for the smaller lights i installed in the hallway. swapping the saws out is easy, and they locked into place securely. once i got the hang of it, the cuts came out clean enoug

I'm impressed with this set. Comes with two saws, two arbors (so you don't have to share), and a spare bit (which the arbors can share) and all of good quality too. I wasn't ready for any large holes in my ceilings at the moment, so I stress-tested these in some thick plywood instead figuring if they did okay with that then drywall would be no problem. Both saws and both arbors worked well. The holes left behind seemed pretty much right at the nominal (or rather… actual) 4" and 6" sizes. Just to be stubborn I used the heavy-duty arbor (with the latches) in the smaller 4" saw and the regular arbor in the 6" saw for my first tests. No issues on account of that, but normally I'll probably use the heavy-duty one because with the non-latching ones I have a bad habit of stopping my drill too quickly and then watching the saw spin off under its own momentum 😅Drilling (downwards) into plywood, I didn't really get to test how well the dust bowl worked. Given how these things go, I'd be willing to wager that it works a lot better than nothing but a little less magically than you might wish standing right under it looking up 🤣 What I can say is that it seems well built, and is of a good generous size. Not only does it have ample room for the two saws it comes with, but it actually has plenty of space for a slightly larger 6.25" hole saw as well 👍

I have some holes in my garage where the electrician ran some lighting for an adjacent wall. I was afraid bugs and rodents may crawl into our walls, so I wanted to fix this right away. The holes left by the electrician are 5" and these are 4"- and 6"-hole saws, so it was a little tricky patching them up. I put a scrap piece of wood about 8x3 and used some drywall screws to anchor them to either side of the hole in the drywall. I then used the 6" hole saw to cut out a donut looking shape in the drywall. This left a 6" inch hole that could now be filled with a 6"-inch circle of drywall as a patch. I used CA glue and blue tape to hold the patch in place until I could get some screws to hold it. This left a small area that needed to be filled with drywall mud around the patch and in the center left by the pilot drill. The debris catcher worked well but let's be honest it's drywall there is going to be a mess. One thing I found is that if you start your drill and get it going fast as soon as the pilot drill has made its hole you get a cleaner edge to the drywall. If you go slow, it will just chew it up. These teeth are pretty aggressive. I even used the four in hole saw on some 3/8" wood and it worked very well.If you need to fix drywall or make holes for lighting this is a good kit for both. I am not a professional, just a guy that likes to do DIY projects around the house. This is my opinion based on my experience with this kit. I do recommend this kit.....

If you are drilling the hole for the first time, this is great. It does a fantastic job. The blades cut through the drywall like butter and the catcher gets about 90% of the mess you would have made.If there is already a hole and you are widening it, use something else. the teeth are too jagged and without the anchor drill; piece in the middle holding it where it is supposed to be, it jumps, won't stay in place, and ends up shredding the drywall as it "bounces"

This is an excellent dust catcher. It is a little difficult to see through and line up, but once you get the hang of it, it is easy to use and gives good (clean) results.

No issues with the product itself it's just that the lack of instructions explaining how to properly use the product would be nice especially for people who are novices and are not familiar with how to use this tool properly that's why I give it only three stars
