49 pcs. Thread Repair/Chaser Tool Kit, w/ Metric, UNF and UNC SizesI’ve never owned such a full-blown thread repair kit before, but it’s really nice and convenient to have this kit on hand. With 22 taps, 24 dies, and 3 very nice thread files, this kit will handle most damaged-thread jobs that a DIY homeowner might encounter. Whether it would suffice for a professional, such as an auto mechanic, I honestly can not say. I just don’t know. The kit does purport to be exactly what the auto mechanic needs, but as an amateur, I can not confirm this. But for the overwhelming majority of us DIY warriors, I believe it will do just fine.I like the way the kit has color coded the various standards (UNC is silver; UNF is black; and Metric is gold). And as I’ve implied, I really like the three thread files—they seem especially well made. On the other hand, the kit is housed in a cheap blow-molded case, and the case’s latches are even cheaper: One of mine has already broken off, and now risks losing parts. If the maker really wants this kit to appeal to both amateurs as well as professionals, the case and its latches should be of higher quality. That’s why I’ve given the kit 4-stars.
