18mm is extremely uncommon, and in fact, many wrench sets skip it outright. This 18mm repair set came in handy when I had some damaged holes that I could just bore to 18mm and rethread and use 18mm bolts instead of the 16 or whatever was in there before. It's not the typical use of a helicoil repair, but it worked really, really well for me.I found this easy to use and the results to be sturdy and acceptable. I believe that the quality of this set should result in permanent helicoil repair based on what I see with my own use. I don't think that it would come loose, and I believe that the included repair material is good for permanent stuff. I have not used helicoil repairs on anything that's holding back any fluids, so I can't speak for how this would perform on an oil pan, cylinder head, or similar automotive repair.

Do not buy this. It is a waste of money. Wouldn’t even give it one star but you have to put something

Bought a motorcycle and the previous owner stripped the oil plug, this fixed the stripped hole just fine.
