I was replacing the valve cover gasket on my 2008 BMW 328xi when the ignition ground stud between the 5 and 6 spark plug broke off in the head . After many attempts to extract it failed and drill and tap failed I bought this helicoil kit and drilled it out used the tap that with kit using cutting oil . Installed the helicoil but the threads were still kind of loose so I put a 2nd helicoil in and threads got tighter . I put the new valve cover and gasket on double torqued all the bolts to at 8.6 nm and 2nd torque to 9nm at which the helicoil held tight . Bye bye oil leak !! I have put a few hundred miles on it and all is good

I tried three different holes for M8-1.0 mm to tighten the bolt to 39 Ft.Lbs. The torgue wrench set to the lowest setting, the bolt stripped the Heli-coil. The bolt threaded into the Heli-coil good before I tightened the bolt before I drill and tap into the engine. I tested on an aluminum scrap to test the Heli-coil. It was a waste of $42.00. Could not tighten the bolt down as I expected. As far as shipping, it was great. Product looked good, but the end result was bad!!!!!However, yesterday I received a refund after I dropped it off at The UPS Store. Mind you, the nice thing is that the UPS Store clerk packs and ships the product back to Amazon. From entering and leaving the store was 2 minutes. That is excellent customer service.

Worked like a charm!!! Literally it was a miracle, ......Iām so blown away there are tools this simple out there that work so effectively vs spending thousands of dollars on a cylinder head replacement for glow plug that has blown out.š

Glad I could find one and they worked great... not a great idea to put fine threads into aluminum, but one automotive manufacturer did and I needed to fix a few stripped holes.

This kit has everything you'll need to repair stripped threads. I have used a different brand called Helicoil. Which does not provide the required drill bit, a made of steel 90 degree handle install insert tool, with an adjustable stop collar, a tang break tool which both tools are coated for grip and comfort.
