I tried to use these for my pool deck project, but these grinding pucks did not appear to make any difference at all. Pretty disappointing, but I haven’t found anything else that’s worked yet, so I’ll keep looking.

[*Yes these “pucks” are designed and intended for use with a floor polishing machine. So, as a stone artist, I am using them in an unconventional way. I’m using them directly on my angle grinder/polisher, as thick long-wearing, rugged, course, aggressive, first-level polishing of stone.]I love the idea of having a thick, course (30 grit) polishing pad that I can abuse a bit. I’m assuming that the thickness of the pad not only gives it longer wear, but that the friction heat won’t pass as quickly through the pad and melt the velcro backing (as is easy to do with the standard, thinner pads).These pads use a ‘copper bond’ in the resin, which holds the diamond grit in place much better than just-resin, making copper bond pads much more aggressive than regular ones …but also more expensive.The grit seems to be relatively evenly disbursed throughout the resin of the pad —which is good— but it still seems to be a bit more sparse than I would prefer. (Thus the 4 stars)In conclusion: These pads are quite aggressive and can wear long, so they are great for using with a heavy hand when refinement is not needed. The reason you don’t want to use them where finesse is needed, is because these “pucks” are almost inflexible compared to a regular thin 4” polishing pads, they’ll likely just gouge if you use them on a finely contoured surface.

Ordered these to help buff our concrete for staining. We are doing staining on our floors and and have a few areas that need to be made more smooth because of previous tile work. These feel super durable and high quality - I think they are totally going to do the job. Looking forward to giving them a shot.
