This stropping wheel works like a charm. It polishes the knife edge to a high mirror shine so your blades cut like broken glass. It is the perfect way to finish your blade. It is super fast and easy to use. I have it set up next to my 1"x30" belt sander. I use 1000grit belt to get a sharp rough edge then polish it to a mirror shine. I get a shaving sharp blade every time and it only takes seconds. Literally less than a minute. Buy this thing now! You won't regret it!

After watching utube vids, I bought this strop. Tried it today, Maybe I need a little more practice. The knives are significantly sharper, but not to the point of shaving. I will keep practicing and see if I get better.

You wouldn't think this would be hard to screw up, but I've had horrible luck with leather honing wheels. This one is the exception. I've used it a bit, mostly with my own green compound over the included white.I've had no delamination of the leather (it's 5 discs glued together). The wheel runs true, meaning the hole is well centered. This means when you use the wheel, it doesn't bump and skip your knife/chisel/skew like an out of round wheel can. While this is easy to use, you can seriously injure yourself if you misuse it. I stand to the side so the wheel nut is pointing towards me, and use the top of the wheel for the honing. Again, be careful. A mistake will turn whatever you're sharpening into a flying knife.

This is nicely manufactured and fitted like a glove, appears to do what it is supposed to do and that is a finishing polish.

So dangerous ... I read reviews saying how dangerous honing wheels are, so I turned my machine around so if it catches it qould throw the knife away from me... well after the second near death experience I decided it wasn't worth it. Excellent quality wheel. Hurts my feeling to throw it away but mh wife made me

I LOVE this leather strop wheel. The pros:* I have been able to sharpen knives SHARPER than any other method (stones, diamond blocks, belt sanders, angle jigs).* it sharpens FASTER than any other method I have tried.* This has sharpened even my hardest blades (e.g. knives made out of metal files). These are a booger to sharpen but no problem with this. The cons:* I have a 6" grinder and the wheel is the same size as the grinder body. See photo. Consequently you have to hold the blade at an offset to strop one side without changing the wheel to the other side of the grinder. See photo.Suggestions:* I wish my 6" grinder had a 5/8" arbor instead of the 1/2" so I could have bought the 8" model. Seller only makes 8" wheels with a 5/8" arbor. Purchase an 8" grinder. so the wheel is larger diameter than the grinder body.* You can turn the base of most bench grinders around so the rotational spin of the wheel is away from you. Just undo the 4 screws at the bottom of the grinder base and flip it 180 degrees. see photo This is much safer and I think it allows for a better view of the angle you are holding the knife next to the wheel.
