Was drilling in rock. Drilled about 1-1/2” and totally quit drilling. Useless for rock

This long barreled concrete core drill was perfect for going through a cinder block wall. Actually cut a lot faster than I expected. Made running the pipes for my split pack A/C a whole lot easier and faster.

This bit exceeded my expectations. I hit solid granite on my final fence post and needed a 20" deep hole. I didn't want to spend a lot of money for a one-time hole, so I rolled the dice on this coring bit. It's a masonry bit (3,000-5,000 psi) and I used it on granite (14,000-45,000 psi), so I wasn't sure it would work. It worked great.I used a rotary hammer for the drill, and kept the hole clean with a shop vac. I removed the core waste with a chisel on the rotary hammer every 1/2" to inch of depth.I had already spent 2 hours with the rotary hammer getting the hole 8" deep before I bought the bit, so the extra 12" of depth put me at 20" below grade.Make sure to use a drill with a clutch. your wrist will thank you. This bit is a 10/10.

I cut through 12 inches of a 40-year-old poured concrete wall made with old river rock. It took forever, but there was little to no wear on the teeth. Be sure to clear the bit frequently, any little chips or a buildup of dust will bring it to a stop quickly.I had to drill with the hammer drill upside down (at the bottom of a trench). If you also find yourself in this situation, use a foot on the drill handle - it practically eliminates the wrist strain you would normally get when it catches.

Drilled two holes through a 15" thick steel reinforced concrete retaining wall. It was not the fastest thing in the world and when it got in there deep it liked to get jammed. But it got the job done. Cut through rebar without any issues. Again, not fast, but got it done and it is still in good shape to be used again. And I used it dry. Adding water just made the dust gummy and it didn't work well. Maybe with a more powerful drill water is a good solution. I just ran a shop vac next to the hole to pull the dust.
