I personally used it for the outer barrel of airsoft replicas. Which is the same dimensions as real steal but it’s just aluminum. Fit and cut the threads cleanly for muzzle breaks and suppressors.

This helped me fix my outer barrel for my ARP 9 2.0. I ended up messing up the threading while taking off the orange muzzle and was not able to thread anything completely. My tracer unit would thread just a bit after half way and this thread die helped it and my other attachments thread entirely. My tracer unit now threads all the way and I’m really happy I didn’t need to buy another barrel.Definitely recommend this if you experienced the same issue as I did. I didn’t even need another tool, I just twisted the die barehanded and was done within a minute or so.Secure/hold the barrel with your other hand as you twist and don’t depend on the upper receiver to hold your barrel in place. You might end up breaking something internal. Thankfully, I didn’t.My barrel is most likely aluminum and not steel so that’s probably why it was really easy to twist the due. If you have a steel barrel I’m unsure if this will work without any other tools. Either way, I recommend this.Lastly, my barrel is 14mm negative.

Let me start off by saying, I knew better. When you’re talking about machinist tools weather dies, taps, bits, annealers, etc, there’s usually a reason for the discrepancy in price of the tool and generally it has to do with the quality/composition of what that steel is made of. I read all the reviews on this before buying and it seemed most had success, so against my better judgement, I bought it. This is far from my first rodeo, so believe me when I tell you. This job was set up to do correct. Long story short, the teeth wore right off while trying to thread an AK barrel for an SGL conversion on a no longer imported Saiga Sporter rifle. I can fix the damage done, but had this happend to someone who isn’t a gunsmith with the right equipment, the barrel would be trash. Anyway, this is my wife’s account and the first time I’ve left a review period for something I had her order. But I know there’s a lot of do it your selfers out there trying to save a buck and I get it. That’s why I’m leaving this review. For y’all. Threading a barrel isn’t a hard job at all for someone with a few of the basic tools required to do it. But please, buy a quality product from a reputable machinist supply and not try to skimp as I did. Like I said, I can fix this rifle still as is. If a customer brought me a rifle in this condition it would run him about $500 for me to correct it. So just spend the extra $40 and save the potential headache. I’m closing, I’d give this tool a -5 stars if I could

I had a buddy with messed up threads on his HK16 and so we bought this and within 2 minutes we had fixed the threads with just our hands and this item! he was finally able to see a tracer unit on his rifle for the first time! 10/10

be aware this is not the best quality die, it is very fragile. but with that said it does work quite well if you take your time and use plenty tapping oil
