Beautiful 2 Flute TiAlN coated end mill. Popped her in a collet - hand fed and made a couple .100" side mill passes in a 304 flavored boat prop shaft (30 plus HRC) nearly the full cut depth of 1" - I think I was at .95?" - did not phase this end mill - she could double that on the side. I'd have to turn the mill upside down if I wanted to double the vertical.I inspected under a 10x glass - it's hard to tell I even used her.Sulfras claims this end mill is good up to 45HRC and I am inclined to believe them. I'm really tired of all the vendors selling budget end mills for ten bucks and claiming they will cut 68HRC - they WoN't. It is refreshing to see a company like Sulfras putting out honest numbers. This is a beautiful 1/2" TiAlTN coated 2 flute endmill - it's well machined & well ground. Gives a nice cut - leaves a nice chip. I really like the TiAlN on the 304 ss.7 Super Novas for The Sulfras 1/2" 2 flute TiAlN Coated End Mill~ Thanks for Reading โ Have an Incredible Life! ~

Review for the 1/2" Carbide Square Nose 2 Flute End MillBefore using this end mill, I examined the edge preparation under a microscope. As shown in the photos, the edges are clean and well-ground, indicating good quality.I will update this review after further use to comment on the tool's durability, specifically whether it dulls quickly or if the carbide chips or shatters easily. My one complaint is the lack of provided information on Surface Feet per Minute (SFM), RPM, and Inches Per Minute feed rate (IPM) for various materials. This information would help in setting the optimal chip load and cutting parameters. For now, I have used general guidelines for typical chip loads with carbide end mills.Overall, considering the price, these end mills are well worth the money.

This is carbide, so it needs rigidity, minimal runout and a high load to work its best.If you don't have good runout figures, you will break it. If you have a lot of play in your milling table and climb mill, you will break it.So, use a good low runout collet, use the right feed and speed for the material you are cutting. Do that and this endmill will work wonders for you.I had no problems cutting steel with this endmill.

First off, it should be noted that we used a manual mill with a chuck rather than a collet, and that during our tests we used this end mill on 4340 steel alloy, which is not an ideal case. However, it struggled when breaking through scale (in fact, it broke after an inch of cutting), though it did fine on bare metal. Because we used a chuck, it wasn't held rigid. These would probably be best for softer metals or smaller projects.

Pick the right rpm and feed speed and this cutter will throw some chips. It was also able to cut a clean finish when final light cut was made.

This Sulfuras 1/2" Carbide Square Nose End Mill is extremely sharp and is coated with Titanium Aluminum Nitride. I can't comment on the effectiveness of the coating since I have little experience with it. The carbide end mill lasts a lot longer on hard and soft materials than my standard high speed steel. I can use a higher feed rate and my low power mill doesn't bog down as it does with my old milling cutters which dull fairly quickly. Since this is a 2 flute end mill I will use it mainly on aluminum.

I havent turned the speeds and feeds up on these yet, but they work well so far. I'm not sure the longevity and how sharps they will stay, but with roughly 1-2 hours of actual cut time so far, they work as well as most any carbide bit out there. Time will tell on the life span.
