Great extension for my forstner bits

Nicely machined from a steel rod, this is one tough extension for 3/8" bits.The collet is 3/4" thick and the two set screws sit in a 3/16" thick sidewall so they have plenty of steel to grip, not strip.

This 10" Forstner Bit Extension comes in a protective end capped plastic tube with an Allen wrench that fits the two screws at the end to tighten the Forstner bit into place. It fits my standard 3/8" shank Forstner bits well with no wiggling once tightened. The inner diameter of the shank opening measures 0.383". Do note that the overall length is 10" on the extender, but 1-1/4" of that is needed for its own shank to go into the holding chuck so this extension will give an extra 8-3/4" to the Forstner bit that is attached. I am using the extension on a lathe for bowl/deep vessel turning and I am happy with the performance for that purpose, but I am equally sure when I need to do a deep hole for a Forstner bit on my drill press, it would work for that as well. I just make sure I go slowly and clean out the debris frequently during the drilling and I get good results.
