We've all been there. We need either a lot more or just a little more depth for a woodworking project we're working on. Some of us may have a longer forstner bit, but for the most part we are stuck trying to find something that will work. In steps the 10" long Heavy Duty Forstner Bit extender! Drill Deeper, Cleaner Holes Using Your Lathe, Hand Drill or Drill Press
Lathe
Using the forstner bit extension on a lathe requires and drill chuck (sold separately) for proper use. Once properly mounted, the extension adds up to 8-1/2" of drilling depth!
Hand Drill
Mount the extension to a hand drill to bore into larger projects. Many woodturners love using the extension to create starter holes so they don't have to remove so much material with there turning tools.
Drill Press
Simply mount the extension and bit in the chuck and you're ready to start drilling! The extension provides up to 8-1/2" of drilling depth for larger projects. Ideal for vases, large vessels and more.

The collet is 1/2” but it turns out my porter cable set of Forster bits are 3/8” shank. I saw forstner and got all excited and ordered this thing. My bad.The other problem is the outer diameter of the collet is just over 7/8” wide. Since I am drilling a 7/8” hole, it wasn’t able to extend my drilling at all.

This thing is really awesome and exactly what I needed except for one caveat. It's really long. I know, I know, the point of getting one is that it's long , but I didn't realize exactly how much it would extend so that putting a hole into a foot long piece of wood means when I am using a forstner bit on my drill press I have to start the hole without the extender and then drop the bit into the hole with the extender attached and reconnect it to my drill press. I also had trouble getting my 1/2 shank bit out of the extender and the set screws cut some marks into the shaft. I had to use some WD-40 to get it out. It is making the holes straight through like I wanted though so A+ with that.

Fulton makes great bit extensions. I own several and can not make up anything negative. My 4 5/8 inch forstner bit with this extension on my lathe works perfect. The grub screws and allen wrench have never failed me in any Fulton extensions I own.

La pieza es de buena calidad y bajo precio.Lo malo es que no tengo y además no encuentro (para mis necesidades) brocas con el diámetro adecuado para la extensión.Casi todas son de 3/8" o menos (aptas para broquero) y la entrada de la extensión es de 1/2".

The first thing I noticed is how nice the finish and machining is on this extension. So far it's perfectly balanced and shows no sign of deviation. I took off 1 star due to the depth of the set-screw threads as they are very shallow. You're obviously not going to crank on the screws but when loosened, they are VERY close to falling out.

This is a really good product. Used with Forster bit to bore holes for coring out lathe turnings. For 1/2 inch shanks only. Won’t work with 3/8 inch shanks
