The fit of the crank arms and chainring worked fine on my square tapered Shimano spindles. However, the operation of the chain on the Snail single speed narrow wide teeth chainring when pedaling was extremely noisy. Was afraid of excessive wear on the chain and the chain ring so I returned it.

The left arm was bent and wasn't clearing the frame. After hitting it with a hammer it straightened it up but the pedals feel like something is a bit crooked. As for the chain ring, it works nicely. The chain grooves don't get stuck and works good. A bit disappointed considering the price but the one I had was worth 4 times this price and the pedal just ripped right out of it after a few rides. Hopefully it will last a few years.

I've picked up a few different ZTZ components in the last year. Some are on point while others fall a bit short (hydraulic brakes are great, while other cranksets are super soft). I'm happy to say that this crankset and chainring hit the mark when upgrading from a cheap 3X set up with a square press-fit bottom bracket on an entry-level hardtail Cannondale. The crankset comes with everything you need, sans the tools, to get up and running with a 1X setup.Fit & FInishOverall, the fit and finish of the crankset are great. The paint feels robust enough to handle some abuse and the chainring is on par as well.My only real issue is the fit/offset of the chainring. Because these cranks are truly intended to be used as 2X crankset, when setting them up as a 1X, the chainring is too far away from the bottom bracket and is more in line with the high gears of the cassette. This will cause the chain to jump down a gear or two when backpedaling in a really low gear and can be a bit annoying and mess you up if you are trying to get ready for a particular event, ie: climbingIn general, these are good entry-level cranksets and do bolt up nicely to a square press-fit BB.

Excellent quality, feels solid, fits the bike, slows and effectively stop the undead too. (this is a guess) High quality, looks good, so much better than the stock stuff on my big box bike.

I just converted a big box store bike from 3 x 7 to 1 x 7 using this easy crank conversion. The square taper might have been a Shimano, at least the rest of the bike had box store grade Shimano from 10 years ago on it.The only tool needed for this is a crank puller.I'm using the 38T snail chainring and I love it. I also like that there's a 64BCD if I decide I need more gears up front. Doubtful since the 1 x has me covered.This is a super easy way to do a conversion if you aren't hung up on weight and your box store square crankset is still working well.
