A lot cheaper than from Zoéller and the delivery was much faster. The zoeller stores were closed on weekend and I ordered Friday night and it was delivered Saturday!

installed - using pump as a spare

While the part was specialized, the supplier was able to provide the right part in a reasonable time. The only complaint is the price for a switch but the potential grief and costs not having it fixed are so much greater.

I replace my sump and drywell pumps every 5 years (Zoeller recommends every 7), but this year in SE MA was extraordinarily wet, lots of ground water, and my 3 year old pumps cycled a lot more than they typically do. I'd rather replace the switches than find next year that I should have. There is a very good reason most of the plumbers around here only use Zoeller pumps.I've replaced a bunch of these, and have read a lot of the reviews. I'm not trying to sound like your mother or a Zoeller attorney, but it seems like a lot of the reviewers are living a little dangerously. In and of themselves, the switches are simple enough to change, 6 screws and 4 spade connectors. However, there is a reason the instruction sheet has things like torque and test pressure setting; you're potentially throwing a toaster into the bathtub if you don't follow ALL of the instructions. The little nylon fitting is 1/8" NPT threaded (National Pipe Taper or National Pipe Thread, depending upon which expert you ask). It isn't metric or ASE, none of them will fit. As #7 on the direction sheet says, tighten it down so "two or less threads are showing". Don't try and re-use the old plastic plug. If you've removed it (7/16" wrench), the threads are probably stripped. You can get the parts to pressure test at most any hardware store. You need a electric meter that reads Ohms to test the through-wall terminals, the two vertical posts on the pump side casting). I hope it goes without saying that the pump should be unplugged during the entire installation. The torque settings (22 inch pounds) keep the pressure uniform over the entire gasket. And make sure you take pictures or make notes about which colored wire goes on which spade connector. I've attached a photo showing which wire goes where; they correspond to the wiring diagram included with the switch. The photos were taken with the pump facing me with the float on my right hand. There are also 3 that show an example of the pressure test setup I use.The one complaint I have with Zoeller is the size of the diagrams. The instruction sheet was obviously written by some engineer, then printed on what I can only assume was a paper saving measure to cram everything the lawyers require onto a single sheet of paper. I have included an enlarged copy of the wiring diagram, which is as simple as these things get. The numbers on the diagram correspond with the numbers on both the switch and the metal casting where the wires attach, along with which color wire goes where. FYI, the diagram apparently covers a bunch of pump models, as the M53 does NOT use a red wire as indicated on the diagram. Where the diagram shows red, it is the white wire on the power in. The electrons don't care what color the wire is.

What a money saver this guy turns out to be! A perfect fit for my existing Zoeller pump and SO easy to do replace. Takes you all of 5 minutes to do and saves you $100+ over buying a replacement pump! As long as your float isn't sticking and still is trying to trip your switch and the pump runs (non-stop in my case) you'll be happy! If you found this helpful please click the link below - did NOT receive anything in exchange for my review!

I used this to repair my Zoeller sump pump, which is now working just fine! I was going to spend over $135 for a new sump pump, so this purchase saved me over $100. I am so grateful to Amazon community reviewers (God bless them!), who made this possible. While researching sump pumps to buy a replacement, I stumbled across my existing pump and read some reviews. The most helpful one pointed out that the Zoeller sump pump has replaceable parts and listed this part number for the switch, which tends to fail after a number of years. I searched for this part number and found some reviews by handy homeowners, who mentioned there were even YouTube videos to show you how to install a new switch (God bless the YouTubers as well!). I knew the switch was my problem because my sump pump would stay on regardless of the switch position, which would cause it to run hot and shut down as the thermal protection would kick in. After it cooled off it would start up again, but not fast enough to keep up with the water in my basement, which became flooded. I purchased a cheap sump pump locally to keep the water under control until this switch arrived. I watched two YouTube videos and I was ready. Swapping out the switch took less than 10 minutes. After removing the screws, I had to give the metal switch housing a few whacks with a hammer to get it to come off. Scraping the old torn up gasket off the metal housing was probably the most time consuming part. I took some pictures with my phone to ensure I reconnected the wires correctly after the new gasket was in place, screwed the housing down tight, and I was back in business: float up, switch on, pump on; float down, switch off, pump off. I was so psyched that I did this myself and saved a good chunk of change. Thank you Amazon reviewers! You rock!

Zoeller Replacement switch 0049869 for pump is good and works well. My pump is the model M53 and lasted since 1997, 18 years and all I needed was to change the switch. Changing it was simple. Despite other reviews saying about the short life of the switch, mine lasted 18 years and works continuously when its raining. One thing I should mention about the advertised product, the title does not match the item number on the package. Title says Zoeller 004892 Replacement Switch for... but the packaged item is 0049869. I was searching for 0049869. I took the chance ordering Zoeller 004892 Replacement Switch. Lucky it was the right product. This should be corrected. Thanks from Montréal

We replaced 3 pumps in 10 years at our old house because the switches kept going out. The first was a Zoeller, it was 10 years ago and I didn't know better - so I just replaced with a pump from a big box store with a "lifetime warranty". After reading the manual - I found that the "lifetime warranty" pump recommended replacing the switch and float every 2 years. I tried to replace the switch, but the design was such that the bolts which hold the switch on run the full height of the pump on the exterior, and were corroded too badly to replace the switch, so I ended up putting 2 additional big-box pumps in that house. We just moved to this house and it has a top-quality Zoeller pump. Because I had no idea of the age of the pump (possibly 10 years), I decided to try to find a replacement switch. I found it on Amazon and the installation was simple, I can rest easy now when it rains not worrying about the unknown age of my pump (and the basepump backup I purchased through Amazon also provides a bit more assurance). From here out I will be using Zoeller from Amazon or a local supply house instead of the big-box store items.
