This basket turned out to be bigger than what K had imagined even though the size was in the description. I purchased this to make Kefir which is a fermented milk drink similar to yogurt. The Kefir grains will be placed in the "basket" and then lowered in to the milk where it will allow the grains to interact with the milk to ferment, making Kefir. The basket will eliminate the need to filter out the grains when the Kefir is done and ready for bottling.

I wanted it to go inside my crock pot. I have 1 large 1 medium and this was too big but. Would be good for pot of soup.

see photo for size comparison. I searched all over for something like this. Bed Bath, Beyond, William Sonoma, Target, Walmart, and nothing. This is King! If you make Pho or anything like pho, you need this in your life!The pot is a 13qt Dutch oven to put things into perspective.11/17/2022 update: So while the above still applies, I have to give a warning. Today is the first day using this contraption. While closing the lid, I slit my finger open on sharp edges. I took a few photos of the injury (with blood), but they might go against Amazon's guidelines. it's a good 3/4 of an inch gash, probably doesn't need stitches but, I'd just say to be careful when closing the lid.
