Well, I played clarinet many years ago and always wanted to play saxophone. Had to find out if it would be possible with upper and lower dentures. I'm looking at the Yamaha Soprano Sax so got this mouthpiece to try before spending money on sex. I mean sax. I mounted the reed and ligature without issue. My two dogs loved the sound I got blowing through the mouthpiece. They sure can sing. Seriously, I was able to get a steady sound out and vary the intensity without any denture issues. Notice I didn't rate Sound Quality. So with proper fitting dentures I should be able to learn to play with confidence. Now I just need to save up for the saxophone.

Très agréable le saxo soprano est difficile à maîtriser, et avec ce bec la pratique de cet instrument devient beaucoup plus facile

Arrived on time, I was given a soprano sax by a relative, the mouthpiece was a cheapo, the table wasn't flat, so the reed gave me lots of squeaks and frustration, so rather than give up or splash out big bucks I thought I'd give the yamaha 4c a try, pleasantly surprised no squeaks, play's nice and easy, highly recommend.

Plays great! I'm a beginner on soprano saxophone and I ordered this a few days after getting my new soprano. and it plays as expected. It sounds much better than the cheap mouthpiece that came with the horn, and it's very much worth the 30 bucks. Great for beginners and intermediate players. The ligature I have works with the mouthpiece, but I still ordered the ligature that goes with the piece (sold separately).

Bought this to go along with a cheap sax, really made a large difference to the playability. This mouthpiece seems to be the industry standard for low cost quality and trying to use anything of lesser quality is likely to reduce your success on a new instrument, which are famous for coming with low quality MP's. If you buy a cheaper instrument at least get a decent MP of reliable quality. And for that the Yamaha can't be beat.

I bought this mouthpiece to use with a Yanagisawa soprano sax and Rovner ligature. I have other soprano mouthpieces from Selmer and Vandoren, but my first impression is that the Yamaha 4C sounds better. My soprano sax tends to be too bright-sounding, but the Yamaha 4C balances the sound with a darker tone, unlike my other mouthpieces. For ease of play, the Yamaha matches the Vandorens and betters the Selmer. A word of advice: Since this item is made of plastic, use a mouthpiece cushion, like the thick black ones from Vandoren. Considering the very reasonable price, any soprano sax player should have a Yamaha 4C.

This is the best mouth piece i have used so far although i have only been playing for a year. It is easy to set up with the reed and have not experienced any problems hitting the correct notes.

I'm a beginner on soprano.. not a beginner on saxophone. Discovered these researching the web for the best starting soprano mouthpiece. Not the cheapest.. the best. This one was recommended over and over. It will be some time before I graduate from this to something more expensive. Maybe never. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Plays beautifully. Good standard, all-purpose mouthpiece for the occasional player or the 'doubler' (I'm an alto player primarily). As with all soprano saxophones, embouchure is most important in the upper register. If you can't get in tune, don't blame the instrument. If you're looking for a professional level mouthpiece, move up to the 4CM or 5CM (they differ primarily in tip opening sizes).

Have heard a lot about this mouthpiece and frankly expected more of it. Although it is heavier duty than the generic plastic mouthpiece that came with my new Sop. Sax, it doesn't perform that much better than the stock mouthpiece

This is the stock mouthpiece that comes with Yamaha soprano saxes. Yamaha doesn't include a lot of features on their student models, and this mouthpiece at first glance seems to fit the bill: polished plastic construction, generic measurements, minimal decorative features, nothing particularly remarkable. The sound that this mouthpiece gets is not what you'd expect from a stock mouthpiece, which is generic, unoffensive, lacking in any character. This mouthpiece is almost a blank canvas in terms of sound. It's versatile. You can use jazz reeds for a bright sound with enough edge to satisfy most players. Classical reeds gets you a more generic sound, like a stock mouthpiece. For a more orchestral sound, I use Bb clarinet reeds.
