Nicely made. Dense wood, square and true. Blade was sharp but not finely honed. Blade fell out of box and dinged a corner, so be careful when unpacking. I had difficulty tapping the blade to obtain correct shaving thickness, never to my satisfaction.

This little plane was made from a nice piece of wood and has an adequate blade. But the sole was no where near 90 degrees from the sides. It was off by a good 1/16 of an inch. Making it impossible to setup without recutting the sole which increased the mouth gap. The blade only required a quick sharpen. This is not recommended as a first plane. But if you are willing and able to fix it, it is a functional tool.

I wanted to use this mainly for cleanup on rabbets. Will work for dados as well but this plane is sorta wide and so unless you’re working with wide material, this is a bit too wide for that, but works great as a shoulder plane!
