It is great. Does what it does. Just was better if you had smaller yarn bundles/cakes

Good enough. Magnet is not strong enough for some heavier or larger balls of yarn, every bump and it falls down. Had to pull out the bottom screw setting and glue it back in since it fell enough times to knock it loose. I have to be very careful when using it or it drops down again.Over all it’s a good enough, functional product, after the limitations and repairs.Would be better off going for something that uses a clip instead of magnet, or the horizontal ones that sit in two slots. Not my favourite, if I had paid for it I would return it, but since I have it I will use it the best I can.

First thing I noticed was how strong the magnet it. I had to tug harder than expected right out of the box to separate the dowel so I could assemble it. I like that it comes with four stick on felt pads for the bottom to protect your furniture from scratches. I had a heck of a time getting the backing off those pads in order to put them on the base of the yarn holder. I assembled and loaded it up. Two full unopened cakes of Lion Brand Mandala Gradient yarn, more than 10 ½ ounces, and the magnet is still holding. I have concerns that the mounting screw to attach the arm to the base is too short, but there is a metal anchor on the arm, so we will see after prolonged use if this becomes a weak point. But for now I have no complaints. Nice little yarn holder.

Took just a few minutes to put together - two screws, and they include the screwdriver.Stands 10-1/2" tall, 3-3/4" wide. With 100g fingering cake, length measures 7-1/4" The spindle drop is 8".The magnet is very strong. That's the key to the design. Why 4 stars?1. The base has a line through it - pic. Not good attention to detail. Makes me think it is veneer.2. I tightened the yarn base to the spindle. Tight. My wife removed the spindle by grabbing the cake - screw and base pulled away from the spindle a bit. I re-tightened the screw.3. Funny, but when take the white covers off of the feet, do not try to remove the white cover directly - will just tear into the foot. Use your fingernail into the middle of the height of the foot - the white cover will begin to pull away from the glued top.I like the product, but I make wood products in the fiber world. I suspect they invested all their production costs in the magnet then thoroughly minimized the costs elsewhere. Not a problem - you get what you pay for - and it does the job.

For difficult to unwind balls of yarn, such as chenille or ribbon, very fine wools or cotton. Allows a wound ball to spin freely and NOT TWIST as you knit. You can use a yarn bowl for this, but sometimes the ball jumps out. In this case, the ball is secured.
