It serves not only as a musical instrument but also as a symbol of traditional Chinese culture. In traditional Chinese opera performances, these square wooden clappers help establish rhythm and guide actors, adding a unique charm to the performance. In folk dances and celebration activities, they evoke a strong sense of folk culture among participants. To play, hold a rectangular stick in your left hand and a cylindrical wooden stick in your right. Striking the rectangular stick with the cylindrical wooden stick produces a clear and solid sound, devoid of any fixed pitch.

This is a nice little wood block that gives big sound. It is nice that it comes with a mallet as well. I was prepared to need to bang it with a drum stick. The noise is rich and percussive. It was exactly what my recording needed. I would suggest this wood block.

Well made. Smooth wood. Sounds nice. Recommend for around $10.
