It's no secret that for any hiker or camper that Wise Owl has your back. I've continued to purchase their products due to this. The hiking world has become very expensive, but Wise Owl has your back there too!I have a double Wise Owl Hammock that is very comfy, and wanted to see how the Underquilt held up. I can honestly say I'm very impressed! Some reviewers have stated it's a little small on the double, but I cannot replicate. I was worried for nothing! The only thing I can see would be to possibly make it 2 inches longer. Still, it is not needed. It will keep you very warm, and keep you from "cold butt". Paired with their camping blanket as well... I'm in seventh heaven and ready for Spring!

The Flare Underquilt is exactly what I was looking for to bridge the gap between summer and winter hammock camping. I have camped with it only once but we had perfect weather to test out the limits of my comfort with The Flare. The temperatures ranged from 70F during the day down to 36F through the night. I had a heavy, 8 lb top quilt. Here are my results. At 55-65F I was warm but did not overheat. At 50-55F I was cozy warm and slept well. Around 45F I felt the slightest chill on my bum. At that point, I put a light, 4 lb quilt between my hammock and The Flare. That kept me good down to 36F with just a slight cooling of my backside toward the end. Set up was a breeze and I saw no issues with the elastic cords fitting my 10 foot hammock. I'm happy with the quality and price. Good Value.

It's exactly what it says it is. I used it several times now with my WB hammock (no carabiners, no problem! I just put a couple small s-biners on the shock cord for the UQ, and I hook that to my hammock suspension). The adjustment points in the middle are nice and convenient too.Setup is easy and very fast, and before you know it you're wrapped up in a warm cocoon. This works on my hammock when I lay on the diagonal, with plenty of coverage of my feet and my head.No more cold heels, no more cold butt, and no more wrestling with pads and sleeping bags!In combination with my favorite sleeping bag or quilt of the moment, and a properly hung tarp, I'm safe from wind and weather, comfortable and warm with plenty of room to toss and turn.Could it be a little less bulky/lighter? Sure, but that's what you pay for! Even with this 'bulky, heavy, unsuitable for backpacking' UQ in my kit, my base weight comes in at under 16 lbs.Could it be better insulation? Sure, but at this price did you really think you were going to go on an expedition to Siberia? Is it worth it for a comfortable three-season hang in all kinds of weather?Absolutely!

This baby works. Kept me comfy all night, and with the two bungie cinch cords in the middle I was able to basically cocoon myself inside the hammock. Which was great because where we camped was extremely dusty and after one night absolutely everything was covered in a fine coat of dust (see second picture). The brig blue at the top was my hammock, which was normally ticked inside the overquilt. But through several days of heavy traffic stirring up the dust, and then heavy rain, it kept me comfy and toasty warm, and even relatively dust free. Fortunately it was just me in the hammock, however, as it's definitely not large enough for two people. Maybe two kids...but not adults. But since I always use a two person hammock, it's large enough for just me. And the price was excellent. Might not be enough for sub freezing, but I was very warm when temps dropped to low 50°s (used my sleeping bag as a blanket and kept my feet out). Overall, I say it's an excellent buy for anyone who prefers hammock sleeping over the hard ground. And it's light enough for backpacking.

This underquilt is very well made, very easy to setup and use whilst being very compact and lightweight which makes it wonderful for fitting in your pack and getting out bush with it. Great product at a great price and wonderful for Australian weather throughout the year.

My wife and I just got into hammock camping. After our first trip, it was very clear that we needed an under quilt. I’m writing this review after literally just getting home from a camping trip. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in our budget for a high end down under quilt. After researching we landed on this great under quilt.First, the good. This under quilt works great. This past trip our temperatures hit 47 degrees and we were very cozy warm. In fact, I had the best sleep that I can EVER remember having. I would totally be confident camping in the upper 30’s to lower 40’s. Also, it is very easy to install and adjust. It seemed to fit pretty well. I use an 11’ Dutchware Gear Hammock. The bad. It’s a little heavy and doesn’t pick down very small. The advertisement or description had down written in the. It is definitely synthetic material. You can see it next to my 1970’s Coleman sleeping bag, which is very large and very heavy.Overall, although it may not work for backpacking, I’d definitely recommend this if you car camp with hammocks. It’s a great cost effective option that works.
