FAQ

Q: Can this 600 watt wind turbine power a house?

A: The short answer is probably not. With a smaller wind turbine like this one, the power generated is not significant enough to completely replace your electricity bill (at a modest wind speed, the turbine will generate 876kWh per year, and the average household uses about 10,000kWh per year). However, it can reduce your electricity bill to a large extent depending on, among other things, wind conditions and your power usage.

Q: Does this turbine produce electricity in AC or DC?

A: The AC power generated by Automaxx’s 600W wind turbine undergoes conversions to DC power using the integrated charge controller. This DC power is subsequently stored in a battery bank for future utilization.

Q: Can the wind turbine self redirect towards oncoming wind?

A: Yes, all our wind turbines have a 360 rotation that faces with a tail that redirects the wind turbine to face the oncoming wind.

Q: Can we add Automaxx wind turbines to an existing solar system?

A: Yes, as long as the solar system also allows for a hybrid system connection. Our wind turbine systems convert the AC power generated into stable DC power that feeds the battery bank system directly.

Q: Should I take it down in a storm?

A: Yes, if you are anticipating a storm with high winds, we do suggest taking down the wind turbine. However, our wind turbines do come with an automatic MPPT charge controller braking system that activates automatically when the RPMs reach a threshold or if there is excessive voltage. A manual braking switch is also in place.

Q: Is the Automaxx wind turbine grid tied or off grid system?

A: Automaxx’s wind turbines are designed to be an off grid system, however you could alter it to be grid tied by connecting a grid tie inverter.

Q: Can this wind turbine be used on a boat?

A: Yes. In fact, this turbine has been designed to withstand the harsh environments at sea. It has a marine-grade layer of coating that protects it against UV and salt damage. It also features a low cut-in speed, which is ideal for trickle charging. Moreover, it's quiet and portable design makes it a perfect candidate for marine applications.

Bought this for my brother's new home. We have always wanted to install a wind power system at one of our houses and surprisingly this has worked perfectly. it was an easy install to our battery system and last night it immediately started charging when the breeze came through. We will see how this continues to work but as of now, we are very satisfied with the product.

Using this on my boat along with 1000 watt of solar. Works great need wind more than 8 knots and at 12v it is rated for 400 watts. Have had it up for about 3 months now and it says it has produced 64kw definitely adds that little bit extra to keep my batteries full. Bluetooth didn't work to begin with but was my problem and working great now.

I got this wind turbine generator kit a few weeks back to power my workshop at home. It was pretty easy to set up, set this up with the family over the weekend, the kids loved it by the way. It’s been working fantastically, my solar panels that I had on my roof and only charged my 4 12V 100Ah batteries to about ¾ of its capacity of the week. I use a pure sine inverter to power my power tools and work station lights off the batteries. The first week I hooked the wind turbine on, the battery was full by mid week, was great! Going to purchase more batteries.- Note –I tried to mount it on a single pole and it didn’t seem to steady, I asked the seller Infinite Mall what the problem was. They were surprisingly fast at responding, they really made an effort to know how I have set up my wind turbine before making suggesting me what to do, really impressed with their service. They suggested that I secure the pole with a “Guy Wire Attachment Plate” stiff wiring that can withstand tension on 4 opposite sides of the pole. I made 2 of these wiring sets just to be sure though.I think its really a great value and is great family activity for a weekend. Got a chance to teach my kids about wind green energy at the same time.

I bought this unit about 2 months back and to be honest was a little confused as to how I would set this unit up. The assembly of the unit was simple and easy, just make sure you don’t have any nuts or screws left over and you should be fine (if you know what I mean). I assembled it up easily without the use of the instruction manual until I got to the wiring part. Was a bit confused when the unit had 3 colors (Red, Black and Blue) as a 3 phase wiring system but the mppt charge controller had (Red, Black and White). I was a bit worried that I would install it incorrectly so I asked the seller what was happening (They were very helpful BTW). They explained to me that the Blue wire should be connected to the White, they also sent me a diagram on the set up. I hooked the wind turbine up as per instructed in the instruction manual and “bam, bob’s your uncle!” the wind turbine started generating electricity. We get a fair amount of wind up here and I use the electricity for my tools in the garage on the weekends, I usually use up to 4/5 of the battery bank I have and I’ve always had full battery on the weekends for my wood work.So far, the wind turbine is running like a champ and hasn’t let me down yet, always keeping my battery full for the weekend, especially now getting into winter! I will see how the wind turbine holds up during the winter times and update this at a later stage.

I bought and installed my windmill on Sep 26 and have yet to get it fully working right, even after many emails with the IM Team. So, I'm very frustrated and disappointed with the system so far and hoping this post will find someone who can help as I really would like this system to work and complement my solar/battery system at a remote site.I've had my solar/battery system up and running for several years, 150W solar, now 8 12V batteries, and have both a modified sine wave and a pure sine wave inverter. I have been running power tools during the day and lights off of the system. I added the windmill to be able to support a fridge throughout the day and night in particular. The site is on a mountain slope in Hawaii, so we get a lot of breezes and I thought the windmill would be a better addition vice a lot more solar panels and batteries. However, the MPPT voltage always shows about 0.2V less than the battery voltage, shown on my inverters and my VOM. With the MPPT voltage less than the battery voltage, its no wonder that the windmill system does not contribute current to the batteries except when the voltage drops well below 11V and my inverters are beeping and shutting down in the low 10V range. This is the only time I've seen current on the MPPT above 0.3A, but more typically at 0.0-0.1A in spite of good breezes. Since there are no adjustments on the MPPT, I've been trying to get the IM Team to modify or change my MPPT to where it will help charge my batteries with higher voltage up to 13.5V, but they believe the fault is in my system. I've seen my solar charge my batteries up to 14V without any load.I have not been able to keep the fridge plugged in because the windmill doesn't contribute enough to keep the batteries charged when the sun sets.I'm looking for any help to fix this problem. What are y'all seeing on your MPPT voltage vs battery voltage, and current output of the MPPT.Thanks, MikeAfter a number of email exchanges, posts, measurements, and analysis:- Highly recommend that a wind speed - windmill output curve be provided in the ad to allow people to make more informed decisions.- This windmill should be generating 600W at about 21 MPH (31 feet/sec per spec)- At cut-in wind speed of 4.5 MPH, you will start to get 0.1A, or about 1W- At about 10-15 MPH, I've seen current up to 5A which X 12V = 60W, not anywhere near the 600W advertised, and minimally enough to offset the no-load inverter draw, i.e., about 50W.- So unless you have consistently strong winds, i.e., over 15 MPH, don't expect this or any windmill for that matter, unless very large, to provide significant output.- Just wanted to provide info so people can manage their expectations, and hope to see a wind-power output curve.- On the other hand, it is very cute like a little airplane flying, but stationary.- But I'm buying additional solar panels to really collect more energy.Cheers
