these vices are great i bought one for home use after breaking 4 others in 2 years this is perfect for home use / mechanic use / light production after i bought one for home use i have since bought 5 for the company that i work for knowing that they are great. make sure when shopping for a Wilton you know that they have different grades but this one is a great fit for price tag i have no second thoughts that this will last a lifetime under normal use

Very sturdy and well built, have it mounted on the back of my service truck and it works great, handles the weather without a problem.

I purchased eight of these for my service department and each one of my benches has one of these and they are very good to work with the only thing I would suggest if you buy this device or any other device is to have a jaw protectors so that when you use it you protect your jaws

Other vise I have used the flat anvil portion is super hard, and you can use it to straighten out a nail or pound something flat--with little marking and no damage to the anvil surface. Every thing I've placed on the anvil so far has put deep dents into the surface, and I haven't stuck it hard at all. So the vise portion is good, but the anvil feels like tool steel in the way it dents and scars so easily--disappointing as I use the anvil on my vises a lot , and it frustrates me to see that anything I hit on it leaves a mark that dents the surface and makes it less and less flat each time I use it. Maybe mine is deffective or wasn't heat treated or something? All I know is I've never seen a vise anvil surface dent that easily. The vise itself is good, though if you clamp something in the jaws tightly on one side, you see the other sides gap shrink noticably as you tighten--I expected this vise to hold things without flexing that much. I want even pressure when I clamp down the jaw tight, not a jaw that will flex visibly as you tighten it down. It's better than most vises I've seen, but I'm a little dissapointed in that I wasn't trying to buy an above average vise, I was trying to buy a REALLY nice vise.

Solid vice. The only downside, which is understood based on leverage is that the feet are not symmetrical. Very minor inconvenience. Fully enclosed vice gear, interchangeable jaws etc, this vice will do everything you need. Holds up well to a torch, solvents, impacts and keeps it smooth operation. Dont cheap out on a crap vice and spend more $ later. Buy a Wilton and be done..

Couldn't be happier with this vise. After buying one years ago, I purchased another as a gift. After having a reliable vise mounted on a heavy duty bench, working on anything any other way seems caveman.

Solid vise. Great quality. No complaints. You get what you pay for. This is no entry level vise. Does everything you need it to do

This is junk, wont tighten, jaws broke, then i find out box says china. Dont buy unless want something that doesnt last, even tho they have a guarentee. We have several older models of this brand, and they were all USA made. All our tools are USA made, no exceptions. If one cannot afford a more expensive vice, or USA made, then take your chances. Still sad after my post the description still says USA. Sorry you are deceiving the American people.

Bought this the other day, slightly worried what I would receive as the picture at the top doesn't match the manufacturer's images. Got exactly what I hoped, the blue-grey wilton 6 inch mechanic's vice. Added in a picture in case anyone else is worried. Also, it's a great vise so far. Not a problem with anything. For the price, I'm not sure you'll find anything nicer.
