I just got this today so haven't been on the water yet but I can tell this is going to be a great kayak already. Lightweight with good craftsmanship. My issue is with the shipping. This thing got beat up a bit in route. The result of improper packaging and rough handling would be my guess. It came sort of wrapped in some plastic sheeting with some thin cardboard in areas. All of that was trashed. The kayak has some damage although nothing that needs to be repaired before use I think. I tried contacting the manufacturers via their website per Amazon instructions but their form won't complete. Says Captcha wasn't accepted but there was no captcha.

have not did the first launch but sure hope I'll love it- despite damage from shipping- the most amateur packing job from wilderness systems-Rudder was just left to bang around loose inside hatch and got bent pretty bad so now I have to wait for replacement parts-hull dented and scratches damage from the shipper CEVA - I thought I was buying a new NEW boat. Amazon did give me a discount but really doesn't make up for this. Buy local or used. really disappointed with wilderness systems/CEVA freight. Update kayak sent back and going with eddyline. Wilderness refused to help although theres that warranty. Play the blame game-they blameAmazon- update-bought a new eddyline equinox and love it.

I purchased a much less expensive kayak from REI a couple years ago and got a manual with all the information I needed to know about the kayak. But no manual or instructions with this one. I think I got the rudder installed and adjusted correctly but some instruction would have been good so I wouldn’t have to guess. Most YouTube videos talk about the seat so no problem there. As for the kayak, probably great and I’ll update after getting it on the water. After a year it has been good except for the pedals. The plastic trigger lock breaks if you put too much pressure on a pedal. And of course you can't just replace the trigger lock. You have to buy a whole new set of rails with pedals.

I am 6 ft and 225# with an avg trunk, 32 inseam. It fits me like an expensive work glove or I imagine an expensive letaher driving glove. Still half a foot of leg length. Cockpit is a wonderful fit but knees go up under deck and to get legs out only one at a slow time. But I suppose that is normal for a touring kayak. I have only ever been in a kayak once in all of my life and it was a Current Designs Caribou (Kevlar) last fall, a CL look/see/2 min. paddle in heavy winds. That Caribou was extremely too narrow and painfully squeezed my hips and if I didn't have canoe paddling experience I would have surely been blown over upside down and pinned in unable to exit. The muscular guy having me try it out had to straddle behind me and pull hard to help me get out. This winter I tried out a Perception Carolina 145 and Tsunami 145 out at the same time side by side on the floor. The Carolina gave me absolutely no feel of the hull or knee brace and I loosely swam in it; huge amount of space and from what I had learned online, I needed to feel "one" with the boat, integrated with it, and that was not it. So like Goldilocks, I tried the 3rd out and it was "just right." REAL FINE FIT, the Tsunami. I am only concerned about getting out and into the cockpit and not looking like a dork or getting hung up (I was trying to get into using paddle brace today in the bsmt) and I CANNOT put butt in first, legs will NOT bend back enough to fit into narrow fore key-holed area so MUST sit on back of seat, even fully dropped, to get feet, one at a time, down into cockpit first as I also must concentrate on not tipping over kayak, then slide butt down and scream in delight for succeeding. Not yet, but it WILL happen. The straddle - drop-in style won't be much diff, just the brace with paddle is diff from what I see but maybe on water I can wade out far enough to get kayak in higher position which might help. That 2nd style allows for deeper water, I think. I have read many, many reviews on this Tsunami 145 and I am confident that if any kayak (Sit-in) will work for me this will. I just need time on the water, which is 34 degrees right now where I am at. I do have a wet suit but need wait till water 40 degrees. Love the kayak and will come back to update later this year.

So far, I really love this kayak. I’ve had it out several times, including some rough water in the bay. It is a very fast kayak, and the rudder certainly helps in the wind and current. I’m amazed at how comfortable the seat is in this kayak, and the seat is very adjustable with a spray skirt. I wouldn’t hesitate to go out in some pretty rough stuff, the kayak is extremely stable one of the most stable kayaks I’ve ever been in. I think this is an excellent choice for a beginner or advanced kayaker. I have to say that I am amazed that it arrived in great shape. I would not recommend the shipping company that shipped it as it arrived very late however, I cannot say enough about the kayak.
