I had to replace my old mailbox as some kind soul decided to back into it and severely bend the pole. After search far and wide I finally settled on this one as a replacement.Pros:- Solid all metal construction - Too many others have a plastic door.- Large sizeCons:- Can't order from Amazon with Address on the side.

Our first one lasted 12 years it was the hinges of the drop-down door that gave way this one fit perfectly on the existing pedestal.

This is a very solid and well made box I used inside a brick mailbox. It looks good and should last well beyond me.

I bought this to replace the similar one we has that was aging with paint pealing. New one is a match and looks fantastic

This mailbox is a great looking upgrade from the usual. It’s our second one and I wouldn’t have put anything else in our Rock Mailbox Pillar. The first one’s door was broken off while open - so repair wasn’t an option. It wasn’t cheap to have the top half of the pillar taken off & rebuilt - but it looks great again - so was totally worth it!

I am buying my third Whitehall mailbox. My first two had the door fall off after 3-4 years. They are solidly built and very good looking. The problem is the hinge design, as several other reviewers have said, is poor. Short metal pins push into pivot recesses. Not a real hinge. Just two pins that are very hard to get to. Eventually the hinge pins get loose and fall out. And it is very hard at that point to repair. I’ve tried to epoxy them in place and even tried drilling bigger pivot holes to sink the pins in deeper but in the end, it is just easier to replace the whole box than try to repair what is a bad design in the first place. So buyer beware.

Our Christmas season present this year was when "someone" came through our neighborhood and destroyed about 20 home mailboxes, including ours. We had already bought ten years ago (the last time someone vandalized mailboxes for fun) this mailbox and the associated post and brackets. When they destroyed the ones in the neighborhood you can see how much more durable this one was. They were unable to break the post and the brackets. After denting the box slightly with several baseball bat swings, they must have become upset and opened the door and banged on it until they broke the door. I might have been able to just buy the door and replace it, as it was that sturdy. However, I ordered the new box and within twenty minutes of its arrival at my house, I was back in business. What We love about the box other than how durable it is, is the size. In our somewhat upscale neighborhood, the substantial size and appearance of the box looks much better than most post mounted boxes. The over-sized box allows the majority of packages and large envelopes to be left in the box instead of on the porch. Also, outgoing packages and large envelopes fit in there, saving me a trip to the post office to mail. The aluminum walls of the box are very thick and as described above, very durable. We liked the bronze color and it did not fade, chip, peel, or degrade in the 10 years we had it.As for our Christmas season's visitors...Karma can be a bite!

Good quality but as reported by other buyers the door has a design problem. The door and hinge design cause the door to open to the horizontal position. And since the door is rather heavy due to the magnet, when opened and allowed to free fall, the door drops and clunks hard to the horizontal position. This constant jarring wears out the hinge assembly which is made from bronze pins welded into aluminum. If your mail person carefully opened the door this would be no problem but many just pull the handle and let the door open quickly. The manufacturers should have used a standard door design which opens and falls all the way down to upside down and vertical. This would not jar the mechanism and would allow the hinges to last MUCH longer.Note: Standard mailbox door hinges usually allow the door to swing freely down and even past the vertical slightly which means there is little to no jarring impact on the hinges. The hinges still take wear from rotation but are not liable to break or crack from impacts.I did a retrofit on mine since I absolutely need a box like this for larger Medium Flat Rate Boxes. I slotted the front door bottom on both sides to allow the door to fall to vertical. If you buy this mailbox and don't fix the door I would recommend ordering an extra set of hinges from the company. They are easy to replace and only require a 3mm hex wrench.
