This set of third (and fourth) hands provides very secure grip on workpieces for soldering, gluing, painting, and all manner of delicate operations requiring precision positioning. (I am skeptical, however, about its applicability for welding.) The clips are rugged and apply enough force to hold heavier objects. With three joints on each arm, the clamps can be adjusted to a wide range of configurations. The steel base is thick and heavy and provides good stability.One caveat on adjustment, however: the tightening nuts loosen fairly easily, and require tools to retighten. Wing-nuts or some other form of finger-tightening might have been preferable.My primary complaint: packaging is sub-standard. Flimsy Chinese cardboard does a poor job of retaining the product's contents. I've had to order this clamp set twice. Neither order arrived intact. In both cases, the box had come apart, and parts had fallen out. At least the second order was missing fewer parts than the first, just a couple nuts, which I fortuitously had on hand, so just replaced myself. The product description actually warns about this issue, pointing out that: "Due to the nature of long distance transportation, issues may occasionally arise." (That said, I receive shipments from China almost daily—and other manufacturers have somehow managed to avert these "issues" by using thicker more robust cardboard and packaging.)Once outfitted with a complete set of parts, this clamping device works well. I am happy to recommend it for your use.

The clips are very good if your soldering PCBs. It is easy to put together. For the most part it is already put together but I found the screws were loose. One if the standoff had come off in the box due to it not being screwed down enough. Overall it is a good holder. The clips don't move around easily once set.This ad mentions for welding.. This is definitely not for welding. The rubber feet would insulate it from a metal table.
