Despite sending it back, I do recommend this Orion "non-smart" version if you don't need the extra functions of its sibling. Connect it up, adjust the output voltage to fit your leisure battery specs, pull an extra wire to ignition or a switch and you're done.Me on the other hand wanted more exact control over the output voltage and I needed the automatic charge detection of the Smart version. All in all... Victron is a safe bet any day.

I replaced an old enerky with this one in hopes of having a more substantial unit and it simply does not charge. I get 14.5 volts in and 10 volts out. I unplugged it, adjusted the output potentiometer and blows a 30 amp fuse on the input. Even a minor adjustment gives the same result . It never once worked. Very disappointedUPDATE, It does work. I ran 8awg cable input with 30 amp fuse initially, pushed it a bit too far so had to upgrade to 40 amp fuse, maxing it put will blow the fuse as well so I would recommend 6awg with a 50 amp fuse input to be safer. Output at max is approximately 600watts or 44 amps which is alot so I wouldn't push it that far. I'm set now a 400watts or approximately 30 amp output

Finally had the time to install this today and I it never get connect to the app via Bluetooth. It is getting power from my truck and it appears to be putting out some power. However, not showing up on the App makes it useless. My return window is closed as well. Not too pleased about this.

Aside from it being super expensive, it just works and it's in a nice form factor. It's hard to find a regulated 12V supply like this with this much current capability.

a few nights ago i was using this unit to charge my secondary batteries as i drove home. Unfortunitly i forgot to turn the unit off when I parked my truck. The next morning my starter batter was completely drained. I had an understanding that this unit could sense the input voltage and would shut down before the starter battery was drained. If this is not true then the unit is no better than a direct connection between the 2 batteries. that makes these units a lot of junk for a lot of money. I assumed i was buying a quality product

Not easy to find a DC/DC converter that can handle such high current. Isolated even better. The Orion-Tr IP43 12/12-Volt 30 amp 360-Watt DC-DC Converter worked great for protecting my 12v electronics from the battery charging system

It's spendier than the alternatives, but it's the best of breed and worth the price. The bluetooth monitoring through the app works flawlessly and the functionality if the device is perfect for my needs.

Careful. Somehow I thought I purchased the "smart" version, but ended up ordering the non smart version. Not sure how that happened. I didn't realize there was two types and ended up installing the unit and it will not do what is needed. (No bluetooth, no charging program) I am out the money and am forced to purchase the proper "smart" unit, and swap them. Just in order to gain the needed function, I had to pay twice. I wish Victron would have made the part number more different between the two units. It is too easy to mistake them for the same product.
