It'll drill a hole in wood in the diamater you want. It'll be ok for at least 1-2 projects. However:In a bit of either bad design or poor QC, the spurs do the opposite of what they're supposed to. Correctly implemented spurs should start a cut around the perimeter of the hole, before the wider blades shave up the bottom. In theory this should make the sides of the hole cleaner. On these the cutting point on the spurs are higher than the cutting blades, so they don't actually cut anything, and the blades do all the work. All the spurs do is dig into the side and gouge things up

I used this to drill into some hardwood flooring for so hinges on our crawl space door. This bit made the perfect hole.

I needed a bit for a snug fit for 1” to 1 1/4” PVC adapter through a board. This was a perfect fit.

If you are going to use lightly once in a while, this may be OK. If you depend on this for your job, I would spend a few more bucks to get the Freud Precision version of the same size. Made in China.

It is almost impossible to find a 17mm spade or forstner bit anywhere. In the hardware stores, the sizes go 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 & 18. I couldn't even get one from Carbatec, the woodwork specialists. This is the only place they are available.

For a cheap bit, it does what I needed it to do.

Cuts through plywood just fine. Nice clean hole; diameter ends up slightly oversize, 1.593"/40.5mm. Runs straight in drill press, no wobble or vibration. There's no way to tell how it will hold up - in a professional setting where I might be cutting a LOT of holes I'd probably shell out for something fancier. But for occasional home-shop use on wood or plastic, this is a good buy.

Cheapest 35mm forstner bit I could find. It's a little misshapen, but it seems to be dimensional where it counts. Overall, if you're not gonna use it too much, why not.
