Well, that's another ten bucks wasted. Not one of these runs straight. Yes, I tried in three different drills, yes all three ran other bits straight, no none of these bits ran straight in any of them. They wobbled in vague little circles, so are effectively useless, except perhaps to stir a cocktail. Definitely not useful to center holes. Oh well.UPDATE: To be fair, the seller has given me a refund, and promised to improve. I trust that they will.

Absolutely invaluable tool set for any DIYer, professional home improvement and renovation woodworker.This set comes in the 3 standard sizes 3/32, 7/64, 1/8 SAE, all with 1/4 hex shank.Each drill bit is clearly marked with easy to see size markings.Each bit has a removable collar that can be screwed off. Inside that is the centering shaft that guides the drill bit which is held in by a retaining spring.A hex key set screw holds the drill bit in place and can be loosened if ever needed to replace the actual drill bit.I have used self-centering drill bits for quite some time now.My old ones seem to stiff when plunging down when drilling my pilot hole.This is most likely due to the internal spring mechanism being of cheap quality.This new set's plunging motion is a lot smoother and because the total length is shorter I have more control when drilling pilot holes.Moreover, the drill bits look like they have a bit of a brad point. So that assists in drill hole accuracy.Also the double sided holes on the centering shaft seem to work much better for discharging the drilled sawdust.If you are installing door hinges or installing drawer slides, these self centering drill guides are a must-have.

I had never heard of a VIX bit before I needed to install multiple cabinet hinges. But I quickly came to appreciate how much easier it makes the job. The actual drill bit rests inside a tube that's the same diameter as the screw hole in the hinge plate. Hold the hinge plate in place, push the tube into the hole where the screw will go, and it automatically centers the drill bit, so all the holes you drill are perfectly centered, making installation much easier. Whether you're doing standard door hinges or cabinet hinges, this set will save you a lot of time and a lot of cursing.

the bit is not centered on the smaller one and is flimsy. The other ones are more or less good. Not for precision work. If you want your hinges to be perfect, go for other set.
