Ordered this product to replace an old ceiling fan. Pretty easy to install, but the product failed under three months. The light side still works but the motor side does not communicate with the controller any longer rendering my fan completely useless other than an extra light in the room. I gave it one star cause it wouldn’t let me do zero.

This remote control and receiver work perfectly in our fan. It’s well made and easy to instal. The soft touch buttons on the remote are nice and the glow-in-the-dark buttons are easy to find. An excellent purchase!

Let me start by saying I purchased a universal remote from a big box retailer for twice the price, really for the convenience of it being able to be purchase it at the same time. However, it was much more difficult to install, and ended up shorting out causing a foul burning plastic smell after only two days.I was nervous that I might have a repeat experience with a cheaper product from Amazon, but boy was I wrong! This unit was much easier to install, and works just as expected. No flickering or shorting out like the unit from a box box retailer. I would definitely purchase this for any other fans we may need to add a remote to.

I can't even explain how happy I am that I tried this. The remote for our ceiling fan was lost and we have done a ton of research on how to order the new remote. Everything I was researching made it feel near impossible to get a new remote without knowing the specific model of the fan. I ordered this new remote and receiver assuming I would try replacing the receiver before completely replacing the fan. I tried the settings on the remote first before messing with the receiver and was able to get it working on the fourth code attempt. The switches for the code are inside the control, tucked behind the battery so I just had to find a small screwdriver to flip each one, but then it worked!! Saved so much time and headache over what we thought we were going to have to do.

I purchased this remote and receiver to replace the remote that can with the Harbor Breeze ceiling fan. The instructions are not the most detailed or descriptive. I probably didn't need to buy the kit since only the remote was broken. There are instructions on the box that shows the different configurations of the security code that you can set on the remote to match the code on the original Harbor Breeze receiver. Unfortunately these instructions were not on the instruction sheet so by the time I noticed these instructions I already had the everything disassembled. If I had seen these instructions first I would have just try the different code combinations and saved myself the work of replacing the receiver.Replacing the receiver is fairly straight forward. Even though the written instructions were only so so. The receiver unit fits well in the orginal slot and all the wires are color coded the same as the original Harbor Breeze. So as long as you know how to disassemble the Harbor Breese to get to the receiver the swap is fairly straight forward. One feature I do like is this remote uses a standard 9v battery, unlike the remote that came with the Harbor Breeze which used a less common and more expensive battery.

This works very well. My original receiver was failing, I believe.Surprising likes: The green light button is itself illuminated in the remote.Didn't know: I had to provide my own 9v battery to power the remote. This was fine as it is easy to install less obscure than the A23 battery that powered the original remote (which required a flathead and some force to locate and replace). Now, I have two working remotes.5 stars for the product4 stars for ease of installation as requires a bit of wiring (5 connections that are well labeled in the new product) and the lack of ease is not the products fault, one must take the fan down and locate the receiver in the ceiling or fan base was the taxing part, especially at arms reach overhead.Be sure to turn off power to the fan via the breakers before working with wires.

The great thing about these wireless fan systems is that they are largely interchangeable. I've got new units like the Eogifee and 10 year old systems from both Home Depot and Lowe's, and as long as you find the 4 dip switch coding system, chances are decent that the parts can be swapped and 'reprogrammed' to pair up and work. So when the fan ceiling box receiver died on an old install, the plan was to use the Eogifee receiver unit code matched with the original 9v wireless wall box remote. Only one problem. The Eogifee unit is a few mm longer and about 5 mm thicker than the original, and simply would not fit inside the canopy cover within the fan-to-box retainer slot of the Hampton Bay fan. As this is a ceiling-hugger fan, that fit is load bearing and cannot be fudged. Too thick, and you can't screw it all together....Fortunately, I had other fans that I could swap parts with, and finally found a combo that worked. The Eogifee handheld receiver is now the secondary 'nightstand' remote, paired to another brand of receiver that was small enough to fit this fan.
