I use it for snowboarding. Last Saturday, I played in advances slopes, one person who play not well hit me from my back, I just fly and hit the ground hard. My butt touched the ground first, it’s painful. Even after 3 days I still couldn’t sit down because my butt hurt when I sat down. Next time, I might buy a softer butt pad. However, if I didn’t wear hip pad, I am definitely gonna crack my tail vertebrae.

I got these to use with my hoverboard after falling to the asphalt on my tail putting myself in pain for several weeks. I am still a bit traumatized so I ride carefully, but these shorts give me the confidence to get out there a give it a shot. I tried sitting hardish on the ground to check how well they might protect, and felt some pain again. Perhaps I am not fully healed. Nonetheless, I do wonder how well these nubby pads will distribute the force of an impact in the event of another tush-pounding incident. Wouldn't a single pad distribute it better than multiple small ones? Dunno. I'll update this if I get an answer to that. In the mean time, I know I am at least somewhat better protected than I was the last time.

Snowboarding in New Jersey can be quite the feat.....ICE EVERYWHERE. With that said, this last minute butt/hip pad purchase really gave me the extra confidence while flying down the mountain. I wore these shorts over tight workout pants but under my waterproof snow pants. I have no negatives except for that it gives a pear shape :) That's a very minor thing considering how much it protects from a fall!
