The first time I used this CO2 inflator I could tell something was wrong with the threads of the inflator that engaged the tire valve. I have a great deal of experience with the use of tools and knew to be careful screwing on the inflator to prevent cross-threading. When I looked at the threads on the inflator, I could see they were damaged. I contacted Pro Bike Tool about the problem. It did take several attempts at emailing Customer Support before I eventually connected with a real person. They promised to send a replacement unit and apologized for the delay. I just received the replacement unit. It works just fine with no problems screwing in the unit onto the valve of the inner tube. BTW, you will read in other reviews that when removing the unit after filling it can unscrew the valve of your inner tube if it is of the removable type. This is due to the unit freezing onto the inner tube valve. Here are a couple suggestions that I have found help. 1) Just be patient and wait for the inflator to warm up a bit so it is no longer frozen to the valve stem. 2) Ensure that your valve stem is securely tightened into the inner tube before going off to ride. 3) Add a little dab of "REMOVABLE Blue loctite" compound to the threads of the inner tube valve. (Red Loctite creates too strong of a bond and you won't be able to remove the valve if needed.) 4) I have heard from some folks that wrapping the threads of the valve with plumber's teflon tape also works to more securely attach the valve to the inner tube. But I have never tried this solution and can't comment on its efficacy.

So.... this little co2 inflator is VERY good! Why? Because it can hold a co2 cartridge if you place one upside down. Not only that, but you can slowly pressurize the tire/tube by using the valve once the cartridge is inserted and also threaded onto the valveThis tool saved me last Saturday when I was already 20+ miles into my ride. This is a must have if your wife or partner is sick of picking you up on the side of the road and or you're sick of hiring Uber drivers.Remember - this tool needs to thread onto an almost unthreaded Presta valve to inflate your tube/tire!

Top.

I have had the unfortunate opportunity to have to use this twice in the past 2 months. On the first use, the tool worked great and I was singing its praises. The 2nd time, I ended up needing to catch a ride. The inflator became “stuck” on my valve stem and when I worked to remove it, it removed the core and I lost all the air. Upon trying for 30 min to remove from the valve stem, I ultimately applied too much force and broke the valve stem in half. It’s possible this was all caused by user error, however, I’m concerned about anything that can get that “stuck” without the user being made aware. I had no issues connecting the inflator to the valve stem and inflating. I did not need to apply any force. There was no indication of a problem. This is leading me to consider a different inflator or a frame pump.

Not as well engineered as I had hoped but if used infrequently is should be good enough so you can limp home riding rather than walking.

Waardeloos.

Probably the best bike tool investment I've ever made. I've had a menagerie of different hand/foot pumps to take with me on rides- ranging from $10 to $75. They all sucked. I don't know if it's primarily the presta valves on my tubes (which I've never had much ease of use with even after 7-8 years of hard riding) or the pumps in general- but I do know that in the process of switching a tube on the side of the road, I can remove the wheel, remove the tire, and then the tube in But no longer.I don't know if it was the idea that using a CO2 pump meant that I could essentially run out of air to inflate my tires during one of the less than fortunate pop-swap-pop again incidents (and I'll never take the hand pump out of my bag despite how much I despise it) or some safety concern to do with having CO2 cartridges in my bag that kept me from purchasing a CO2 inflator sooner- but this pump is a game changer for me. 99% of it (for me personally) is that it will screw onto your valve stem. This effectively eliminated the old need for holding the pump head perfectly so that I'm not losing as much air as I'm putting in while trying to pump it up with the other hand.If you also fight with your hand pumps with presta or schraeder valves- or maybe you're a bit newer to riding and want to eliminate some of the annoyances that will eventually present themselves during a road side flat- buy one of these and save the aspirin.Thank you for providing a great product and happy riding.*Edit for clarification.

This CO2 inflator is expensive, yes, almost three times what a simple one costs, but my is it worth it. Beautifully, beautifully finished, there's not one flaw in the machining or anodizing. It workks for presta and schrader valves without having to unscrew anything, just plug and play, plus you can carrry the CO2 cartridge inside the inflator. It's hard to justify the price just from an utilitarian perspective, as you can find 7$ inflators that will do the job, but this seems it will last forever and look good while doing so.
