We have a number of projects around the house including installation of a carport and restoring a cottage. These looked like heavy drills that we could use for the projects. The Good:-The bits are in a standard often-used size.-The metal is heavy and the bit are long, which often comes in handy when drilling through several layers.-The case makes it easy to store the bit.The Bad:-NothingThis product met our expectations.

These bits are great. They insert into regular and impact drills just fine, no hassle. I've been using them over the last two weeks on sets of planters, potting benches, and small work tables that I sell at farmers markets. I appreciate that they come with a case -- not all the sets I've picked up from Amazon come with this feature, but its much appreciated. The only hiccup I've had is that one bit broke an inch from the neck at high torque while pressing hard into a piece of pressure treated lumber with my impact drill. Probably a red herring though, because the other bits have performed perfectly since then. (Its not uncommon for bits to break, just calling it out as a data point in case anyone else experiences the same on PT-lumber).

There is something about a 1/8 drill that makes it so useful for me. I use them for pilot holes to start much bigger drills. When I rivet 2 pieces of metal together I start off with a 1/8 rivet size and then decide if I need something bigger. Drilling out spot welds always starts with a 1/8 hole before I load up my spot weld cutter. My most useful Cleco is a 1/8 size (if you don't know what a Cleco is, do yourself a favor and find out what they're all about because they are super useful). When I go to fix a crack I usually drill a 1/8 hole at the end of the crack to keep the crack from running any further. I'm leaving out other uses but let's just say I use them a lot. This is a nice set of 10 hex shank drills that will fit your 1/4 impact or a regular hand drill. They are plenty sharp when you get them and drilling through steel is very easy to do without applying excessive pressure to a hand drill. These appear to be very durable too. I drilled a few holes in steel and they never showed any signs of getting dull. So far I'm very happy with these.

The titanium coating keeps the bits sharpe. The are able to cut through wood, plastic and metal with ease.
