It works like it should, the tools are very sharp, when done properly it will be like factory threads. I feel it's a good investment.

When you strip out a drain plug hole you're not a happy person. This tool saved me from making a major repair on my tractor and made me happy again!!! Even though this is expensive, it is well worth it. The tooling is high quality and the system itself is really well designed and makes for a top notch repair. My tractor has been repaired and I truly believe it is better now than original from the manufacturer.

I'll make this sweet and straight to the point. This kit did exactly as advertised, help fix my brembo caliper for my Acura TL-S. The only issue I had was the drill bit, it was too large and is meant for a drill press which I don't have and the reason why it has 4 stars. I have a cord drill and purchased a smaller diameter shaft 34/67 for a 3/8 drill. Other than that I'm extremely happy with the purchase. Sidebar; also make sure to purchase a 3/4 or M20 tap wrench if you don't have one to use the entire kit.

March 2020:Wow wow wow!!! Absolutely perfect for getting my 3rd gen TLS brembo caliper bolt back in. This kit is beyond brilliant and a lifesaver to say the least. Price is steep, but well worth it for the absolutely brilliant engineering that's gone into this. Instructions were very clear, everything was packaged very well and it came 2 days early. I have no complaints. Thank you!!!Update October 2021:Just when I thought I got my use out of this tool, my second bolt decided to strip out too... Almost fell out while I was driving. This tool yet again saved my @$$. So glad I held onto it.

This is a good quality kit. On top of this kit I have bought some longer inserts. The whole kit works as it should. There is a drill bit, a counter hole cutter, a set tool, and few inserts.Once the hole is drilled, countered, and tapped, add some oil to a set tool, where it meets the insert, and screw it in by hand, until the insert is flush with the surface. Then run the set tool all the way in, it will expand the insert, and keep it locked, so that your bolt would not pull the insert out in the future. Good product .

Compared to other solutions, the Time-Sert is not cheap. However, if you want to do the job right, it is the right solution. In my case, I needed to repair the stripped threads for an oil pressure sending unit on a transverse mounted aluminum motor. I certainly did not want to have to pull the motor out of the car to do it. At the same time, I was well aware that I only got once chance to do the job and if it went wrong the motor was essentially ruined. For that reason, I did not want to risk shortcuts or questionable repair tools. The biggest risk in this job was how to be sure that the drill and tap were going into the hole straight, since there was limited visibility, working from above with the engine in place. The solution was to screw the insert tool into the damaged hole, then add a socket & extension, which created a visual guide for what a straight line to the hole looked like. I then made marks that allowed me to line up the drill on the same axes.Time-Sert's help line was excellent in providing information and advice when needed.Be aware that some of their kits include drill bits with squares on the end for use with a tap handle or 12 point socket, while some have drill bits that are round at the top.The downsides:1. Part of the kit includes a counter-sink tool. This tool does not cut as quickly as the drill bit and although it has a shoulder to stop it when it has gone deep enough, unless you have a clear view of it, it is hard to tell when it has gone all the way down. So despite doing what seems like a lot of countersink cutting, you may still not be in all the way.2. The contents of the kits are poorly described in the Amazon listings. Time-Sert offers three different depths of inserts and the listings don't say which one you are ordering. Also, the drill bits may or may not have the squared end for the tap handle. Look closely at the pictures to be sure what you are getting. It is probably best to contact Time-Sert with your exact requirements before ordering so that they can point you to the correct kit on Amazon.

Free shipping was chosen and expected it to arrive in a week. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived in 2 days. Many thanks to Mechanics Tools & Bits for shipping it USPS 2-day. The mailman required a signed confirmation and glad we were here to sign. Now, I'll be able to do a quality permanent repair to a reverse light switch threaded hole on an aluminum Saturn manual transmission. As a professional mechanic, I've always used helicoils but could never trust it's flimsy design. Time-sert inserts come in several depth sizes and are also available on Amazon. I ordered the 6.6 mm deep insert at the same time. Time-sert is the way to go if you want a first time permanent quality repair on a stripped thread. If you have a second time repair due to a failed Helicoil you will want the BIG-SERT instead. I'm a happy customer and my clients will be too.UPDATE: The repair was successful. I'd like to share some tips to either save time or aggravation. If you're worried about metal shavings, coat the end and channels of the drill bit, counterboring bit, and cutting tap with red bearing grease. It's easier to see metal shavings embedded in red grease. Several Q-tips coated with red bearing grease were used to wipe up the shaving embedded grease. A 1/2" or larger chuck drill is needed for the drill bit and counterboring bit in this kit. I didn't have a large enough tap driver for the cutting tap so I used a 3/8" drive 11mm 12-point socket, a 3/8" drive extension, and a short breaker bar to run the cutting tap instead. The 12-point closed end of a 3/8" combination wrench ran the Insert Installation Driver and did fine. My particular repair required a flush finished surface but one edge of the carbon steel insert protruded a just tiny bit due to either my drilling or tapping being slightly off. It was easily remedied using a small grinding stone on a Dremel tool to flatten out the surface. Good fortune to you.
